Is it possible to get a lighter trigger pull on a 3rd gen 4506-1.I love mine but it would be a better shooter if I could get the pull down to 3 1/2 pounds like my 1911.I've heard that people send them to S&W for an action job, just what is that?

I had my 4506-1 trigger worked over by a local gunsmith, it was used for duty so weight was not reduced to 3.5lbs but the pull is glass smooth and crisp. The Smith trigger is good out of the box but can easily be made amazing by a good gunsmith or the S&W performance center.

An action job tends to be more about smooth operation and reliability.

A quick way is to get a slightly lighter main spring. Wolf has several different weights. It is a noticable reduction.

Trigger Job

Ditto to the above most double semi automatic trigger jobs lighten very little.

BUT they make the full pull of the trigger travel smooth as glass.

That's what impressive. Most well known gunsmiths could help you out
on your 4506.

Congrats on owning the 4506, it's by far one of the best auto's every produced by S&W. One hell of a duty gun, built like a tank.
