Triple Lock database?

Has anyone established a database of Triple Locks with serial numbers, barrel lengths, configurations, etc.? I have several hundred identified Triple Locks (I’d like to increase that number) I’ve recorded information on based on auction sales, classifieds, etc., all just handwritten on sheets of paper. I’d like to get them organized into some type of spreadsheet I can use on my iPad but I’m definitely NOT very computer literate. I spend more than half my year working in Kenya and don’t use a regular computer here, I only use my iPad. Can anyone smarter than me recommend an easy method of entering the info and keeping track of it on my iPad? Thanks in advance.

Your iPad probably has the “Numbers” application which works very much like Excel and is good for simple spreadsheets…..

I, too, would like to see a TL database! I'm wondering if SWCA would set up the spread sheet and find a volunteer to moderate it?

The S&W Collector's Association has developed a database that will contain data including pictures on all models of S&W guns. It is in beta development ATM with wider access coming in 2026. That is the place to put all y'all's spreadsheets, notes, etc.

Do it in some way you can back it up! No fun to lose hours of input.

Me, I’d just type in the data using the notepad, and email off backup copies to someone. Make a list like

SN, barrel len, grip type, etc

One gun per line. Keep the format fairly constant, put variable notes at the end of the line. Easy to clean up once it’s all entered.

I did 100 years of births/marriages/deaths for a Czech village this way. Happy to be of any help.

Do you plan to include TLs manufactured in .455 MK II caliber as British Service Revolvers?

1503 were numbered in the .44 Spl TL serial number range.
5857 were numbered in the 455 Contract serial number range starting with #1.

Jim, for now, I’m only keeping track of guns not in .455. I may expand it later.

I have a Triple Lock that is serial #2639. That number is also on the cylinder. It is a .44 Special. has a 6 1/4" barrel, adjustable rear sight & a tall scallop'd front sight. It is mechanically sound, the grips are replacement grips and I was told the rear sight may be a newer model replacement. I do not know the difference. Single action pull is smooth and D/A is pretty heavy. It has been re-blued. I consider it a shooter grade pistol. I had it engraved a couple of years ago, so it looks much better now.
I do not know when it was made or who it originally was shipped to.
I bought it over 25 years ago from a dealer in Puyallup, WA.
I do not have a photo I can find, showing the whole pistol...

My New Century 44 Special # 7721 6.5" barrel, refinished nickel. No "B" on it, but there is a star in the extractor housing and some other numbers on the butt with another star. Also, the cylinder was re-stamped, so it was replaced.

Your serial 7721 restamped where yours is, usually indicates a lanyard swivel was added by drilling thru the butt serial number at the factory. Is there evidence it had a lanyard swivel like a plugged hole?

No evidence of a lanyard ring. Makes you go hmmm.
