Are the Vtac and Truglo TFOs the only two options for Tritium / Fiber Optic Combo Sights?

I have seen the Vtacs in person and was impressed but they are crazy expensive!

I have not seen the Truglo TFOs though, and have a couple of questions:

From the pics I've seen online the front sight looks crazy long, how much longer are they compared to the factory sights?

Do they need to be charged with a light source in order to glow in the dark or is it a constant glow regardless of light?

Does the top of the FO rods glow in the dark or only the ends?

The front sights are about twice as long as the stock sights, the FO sight will not glow in the dark at all. They can be used in full sun light to low light only.Hope this answers your question.

I recently had TFOs put on my gun and all 3 dots show up real good in total darkness.

only half correct... T=tritium for no light situations and the FO=is fiber optic for down to low light.

just got the TFO's on my shield and there great! got trijicons coming for my 1911...

The TruGlo TFO's are Tritium Fiber Optic sights. Meaning they use a tritium vial to light the sight at night and the fiber optic during the day. They may be the brightest night sights I have ever used. The front is long but it is not noticeable in the sight picture. Looks like three very bright green dots any time of day or night! I love mine!

I just installed the TFO's on my M&P9... the front sight is longer than the rear but not too noticeable. The Tritium is only at the ends of the sights, to see 3 bright dots. I purchased the Yellow rear/Green front for a larger disparity in 0 light. Couldn't be happier

Thanks for all the info, I am leaning towards the TFO's mainly because of the price. I have not been able to find anything else that is a combo Tritium/Fiber? Whats the deal with chemicals damaging the fiber? Will Remoil, Hoppes, or CLP cause damage?

See their website for what they do NOT recommend. I put them on SD40's, and they are excellent, wish I could get them for the Sigma!! Be Safe,

I'm leaning towards the Trijicon HD's (SA137O) for my SD40. Saw some in action last night at an indoor IDPA shoot. The orange around the front tritium looked about the right size for these old eyes. I also like the rear notch being round on the bottom. Not inexpensive though.

I absolutely love the Trijicon HDs! I have them on my M&P9 Pro and my 9c. I've got the yellow dot versions mainly because the yellow comes with a longer warranty. I like the blacked out rear sight as it makes the front sight stand out and makes it very easy to quickly acquire.

i had them on two G19's and just added them to one of my Shield's. I really love them and I cannot find anything close to the features they offer for that price.

just go order some off Amazon and put them on. you can thank me later on.

The TFO's are really nice. Very good in daylight and no light conditions. I went with HD's on my 9c (yellow dot) and 40FS (orange dot) just because the warranty for trijicon is fantastic. Can't really go wrong either way in my opinion....

I ordered them from midway with my birthday discount, they are freaken sweet! Thanks for all the posts
