My experience shooting ported guns has not yielded any of the negatives people claim it will (or could) with one exception; the front sight gets dirty very quickly. My preferred setup is an Ameriglo Proglo front and plain black rear but I am not sure how well it would work with my ported Shield. So I decided to go another way, Truglo TFO PT sights. The only place I know of that sells these are Brownells and they run around $65. With the practical tactical sights I get a glowing front sight (fiber optic and tritium) and a plain black serrated rear. The best part is that the front sight is so long that it sits well behind the porting. I only had time to pop off one mag to test it out, but so far so good! I am hoping to get some range time next weekend to put it through a little more extensive testing.

Good choice, now you need the rear one as well. I just put them on my Shield 45. Great visibility and I hope even when the Tritium life expectancy expires.

I agree with gatekeeper. You should get the rear sight also. I have TFOs on a couple of my defensive guns and love them. It is a great addition to your Shield, day with fiber optic visibility and tritium at night. Perfect!

Thanks but no thanks. I despise 3 dot sights in any form. I don't want any sight confusion or bright dots distracting me from the front sight under stress. I went away from 3 dots about a decade ago and both my speed and accuracy increased immediately. I don't mind the dot the eye or dot over dot style. But that is why they make so many options, we are all different.

I have a 9 MM ported shield with hi viz optics (standard). I need to replace the fiber optic in the front sight. Does anyone know the size of the fiber optic I need. Any suggested brand? Thanks
