Trying to decide between Smith or Springfield 1911

I've also had my S&W 1911 for 10 years. I have Colt and Springfield 1911's But the S&W IS MY FAVORITE.

I have no complaints about my S&W E model 1911.

I really have a hard time telling the difference is shootability. I've got Colt series 70 Gold Cup (worked over), Springfield Armory (Customized), and an RIA compact (in 9mm), and most recently a S&W 1911 E Series.

Once the triggers are to my liking, about 4-5 lbs, and clean there just doesn't seem to be much difference in handling and accuracy.

Thanks for the feedback and I far. I won't be buying until next summer likely. I may look at Colt but their bankruptcy worries me.

If it was me, I would spend a little bit more and buy a gently used Baer - you can find them pretty readily these days, the market is soft making it a great time to buy. The Baer is about the best you can get without stepping up significantly in costs.

I've had a Springfield Armory RO for over three years and IMO it's the best 1911 out there for the $ these days. I have a few other 1911s (higher-end custom and Colts) but the RO sees the most range time. I've been very happy with the accuracy and reliability.

Admittedly I don't have any experience with S&W 1911s.
