Tto CeraCoat or not?

I just picked up a 396, and have a 442 setting in the safe. I have heard rumors these can be sensitive to agressive cleaning and suject to wear due to the materials/finishes. True?

I am considering have them CeraCoated to increase the durability of the finishes, nothing fancy - just flat black.

Anyone have an experience in this arena? Recommendations? They will be carry guns which will probably not see lots of rounds down the barrels. But they may not be pampered while carrying!

The "home done" examples I have seen done looked very cheap when finished. I figured it dropped the value of the guns by half. I have not seen any commercial CeraCoat finished done.

Good point Richard. While I have done some paint jobs in the past, in this case I am looking at professional application.
