Tuckable vs non tuckable

It seems like I'm giving the "minority report," but I like my Theis tuckable a lot. Do I usually wear it un-tucked? Yes, definitely. Is the tucked option superior to any other choice I feel I have in my Texas climate? Yes, definitely.

The clips I prefer are Kydex, but Mr. Thies discontinued them due to breakage issues. I prefer them due to their lessened likelihood of scratching furniture (pews) and wear and tear on upholstered seating.

I believe the major factor in my opinion/experience is climate. Were I comfortable wearing any kind of light cover garment, I wouldn't have the affinity I do for IWB tuckable. Sadly, our cover garment weather here is about a week long, and sometimes it rains that week. :-)

JJEH - thanks for the image. Although it does not look like the same holster it does show how the tuckable is accomplished.

Thanks for all the input. Because of the longer than usual cold weather here in CT Most everyone I know are wearing pullovers so concealing is not an issue. Come the summer when you have to be a little more buttoned up so to speak the tuckable seems to be a better choice. Interesting that the Theis clips were made out of Kydex rather than a more durable composite.

It's exactly the same, J201T :)

I have found the Theis Kydex clips to be durable and, for my purposes, superior to the metal. The Kydex he used for clips was very thick and no where near the lighter material used in the holster. Tommy pulled them because of his determination to produce the best possible.

It may be that I am more gentle clipping and unclipping my holsters from my belt. One may break tomorrow, but I am still a fan.

I have had a few holsters for my Glock 19 which I carried concealed until I got the Shield. The one I liked the best was a recent purchase the De Santis SOF-TUK. I got one for my Shield as well.

I carry appendix IWB. It is very comfortable tucked or un-tucked. I'm skinny and 5'8" So anyplace else I carry would print something terrible.

The MIC Holster (if you really want to call it a holster) is also quite comfortable and tuckable, but re-holstering is a two-handed affair.

I have the SOF-TUCK also. I like it except for one feature, it does not cover the gun against your body. If they made it with that feature it would be an unbeatable IWB!

I have been looking for a holster for my .40 Shield (OWB) as a cooler/cold weather alternative to carrying my .380 Bodyguard, which I carry in an Uncle George's pocket holster during warm weather. I really like the look of the Theis compact OWB holster. The way my physique is there is NO WAY I could do an IWB with even the remotest amount of comfort.
