Turning a 3rd gen safety to decock only

If I'm remembering correctly, the slide needs to be modified and the safety body needs to be replaced with a de-cock only body... see here: Safety Lever (w/ Decocking Spring) SMITH & WESSON

The de-cock only safety has a spring that returns the lever back into the horizontal position after being depressed for the de-cock and the slide needs to be modified for the spring.

Anyone have info on turning a 3rd gen pistol from decock safety to decock only?

I've done it to my Berettas(they sell a kit)

Thanks

You need a spring loaded decock body to replace the manual safety body. The spring loaded decock body has a clockspring wound onto it that engages with a modification on the slide to enable the automatic return to fire position.

The slide requires a small 1/8" end mill cut about 0.050" deep...

Then a 1.55mm hole drilled to anchor the working end of the spring when the spring loaded decock body is installed...

The spring loaded decock bodies were made nominally in two variants, one for the large frame guns like 4506 and on for the small frame guns such as a 5906 or 3913.

Looks like this, viewed from underneath, when the mod is done...

Numrich still has stock for the small frame variant. The other one is pretty hard to come by.
