I have a model 63 that shoots to the left. I have the rear sight run very far to the right. I decided to remove the sight and have a look. The barrel appears to not be centered with the frame. it is only off by a 1/16" but appears to be enough to make a difference.
Is there a way to turn it myself without bending the frame? Some type of jig to hold the frame. Is it a job that can be done at home?
Any help appreciated.

You will need a good barrel vise and a frame wrench. Does the barrel have to be tightened more or loosened to get it clocked correctly? If it has to be loosened, you may need to either use loc-tite on the threads or have the barrel shank turned so that the barrel will lock up correctly. If it needs to be tightened, it may also need the barrel shoulder cut back for the proper torque to be applied. Too much torque can possibly crack the frame. Either way, you need to use the proper tools to do the job correctly. You may be better off sending it to S&W for the work, as they may cover it under warranty.

Bill,
Thanks for the infofmation. The barrel needs to be tightened. I think a call to S+W service is in order, as I dont have the proper tools to do the job right. Depending on the cost of shipping and possibly having to pay for the fix, I may just leave it the way it is.Got the gun on a trade.
