Jimmy, I started a thread about "Copper" not long ago. Really enjoyed it, too, and was sorry to see it end so quickly.
We immediately moved to "Ripper Street," at the suggestion of cmort666, and enjoyed it every bit as much. It's set in London just after the Ripper murders ceased, and the premise of the show is that the detective in charge of murder investigations is continually confronted with the prospect that the Ripper is back -- though he can see from investigating the crimes that it's not the case. Everyone is just hyper-sensitive to the terror that the Ripper caused. Really good series.
