One fatal, one airlift.
Near the Arizona border around the Naco area.
Preliminary reports are they were ambushed while on horse patrol.
RIP brother

Theresa and I spent the night in naco the same time that rancher krentz was murdered a couple years ago. That sounds like a bad area to work and live. This stuff is long and far out of hand. God comfort the familys.

Another sad episode on our southern border. They were responding to sensor activity on horse patrol. One agent killed, another shot twice. Reports are the agent shot twice is expected to fully recover. A third agent that was present was not injured. Border Patrol and cochise Co. SO are tight lipped as of now. We will probably get more in the next few days. Prayers are with the families...RIP Sir.

Sad news. Some days I think we should bring all the kids home from Germany and redeploy them on the southern border. Most days actualy.

God bless the surviving agent and all the families.

I've had the same thought about redeploying troops that you mentioned.

Amen, give a Patton type 2500 Marines, artillery/air support, 6 months and the authority to cross the border and shoot anything he feels necessary and the problem is over.

I'd also be in favor of snipers in towers and a Dead Zone, anyone that crosses into the zone gets lit up, no questions asked and no inquiry needed.

I think the only reason we do not see more of this is because the criminals have no wish to provoke a full on border clamp down as others have suggested. I would not be surprised if some hothead is having that fact of life explained to him by a senior cartel type right now. If he fails to survive the "explanation" that's OK with me.

Don't need to invade a sovereign nation. A 200 yd wide strip, from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific along the "fence" north, full of $1 plastic Chinese anti-personnel mines would do nicely. Only downside is ain't nobody gonna go and pick up the "damage". Joe

I am a conservative to the bone. If suddenly by some impossible event I was pushed into being a dictator the illegal immigration problem would be the hardest issue for me to face. For openers, were I born south of the border I would be at the head of the line trying to cross the river.
I think I can spot illegals. I see them every day. Some are friendly to me that I see often cleaning up in resturants. Traveling I have met many pleasant maids and waiteress`s. For the most part most are friendly, hard working and try to keep a low profile.
I would love to trade three butt head citizens for every docile illegal and buss them to mexico.
Yet its a problem that has to be addressed with a iron hand.
I once had a number to go on the border patrol but president nixon put a freeze on goverment hireing. By the time they started hireing again I had other ideas.
Still, I couldnt be a agent today with all the restraints and dumb laws muzzeling them.
I never could figure how they determine who gets deported. I have a retired county sheriff friend that was a sheriff of a county in arizonna.
He told me he could fill a bus of them every thirty minutes! It seems were a LEO to take some illegals to the BP HQ`s, they wouldnt accept them. I was told the same by a LA cop buddy 40 years ago!
What is it? If you catch them after they drop off the fence you can deport them for the day, but if you pick up one 15 miles north of the river with a dry shirt he`s good to stay?
WHAT IS THE RULES?
I could not work a job like that anymore! It would be like being in the service or jail being told to dig a hole then to fill it back up.

I wonder if any of Holder's F&F guns were involved?
I live part-time very near the border in Texas, and when I am out, I NEVER go unarmed. And most others in that area are like me. Closest I ever came to needing it was firing a shot into the ground to scare off a group of 4 or 5 illegals that I happened upon, after which I called the Border Patrol to round them up.

I'd also be in favor of snipers in towers and a Dead Zone, anyone that crosses into the zone gets lit up, no questions asked and no inquiry needed.

Have a look at the vicinity on Google Earth and you'll see what Google Earth calls "International Road" paralleling the border fence for miles, creating what could be a Dead Zone, were it to be mined, manned with snipers, or MGs, and turned into one long "beaten zone". (What you won't see is the numerous detection towers, and etc., and huge BP presence between the border fence and Hwy 92.)

But, "cultural sensitivity", pandering to the voting block comprised of relatives and sympathizers of illegal aliens (their proper appellation, not the PC "undocumented immigrants") and spineless political irresolution will probably perpetuate the status quo.

The proper function of the BP AND the US Government should be to prevent "illegal aliens" from ever becoming "undocumented immigrants".

....

I agree. I used to run my mouth about "Them Mexicans" until I had the same epiphany. I have nothing but sympathy for the Mexican citizen. It has to be Hell trying to live under the current conditions. A lot of those crossing the border should be given asylum, Green Cards and Tax ID's, IMO.
As others have said let's stop fighting in TrashCanaStan and take out a few BG's closer to home.

There was an expert on the news today that said the cartels have a $20,000 bounty on the head of BP agents. Why would anyone kill a BP agent?

If Holder ever prays, my bet is he is praying right now that the gun used in this killing is either never found or cannot be traced to F&F.

If we ever do use troops on the border, I would argue that it should be temporary. I think we need to put a lot more resources into this fight. The BP agents have sensors to tell them if someone is out there, but these could be better and tell them WHO is out there.

I am afraid putting troops on the border would be seen as racist. It would have the effect of discouraging smuggling and illegal immigration.

I don't have any problem with Mexicans in general. I am not totally against amnesty, but to grant amnesty without solving the underlying problem is stupid IMO. Also amnesty can be used as a bargaining chip to solving the issue. To me, most Mexicans are socially conservative Catholics.

I think if they catch someone smuggling drugs unarmed it ought to be a couple of years in the greystone Hilton. If they catch someone with drugs and guns it ought to be a mandatory 20 years. In fact, I would build a prison in Southern Arizona.

I think we need to come down hard on employers who hire illegal immigrants. If we cut off the supply of jobs that lure the illegals here they won't want to stay.

They come here and take money and benefits they have not contributed anything toward, raising my taxes and taking money out of my pocket and food out of family's mouth. They are stealing our future/resources from us just as sure as if they kicked the back door in.

I have a friend in county adoption, one of them gets a citizenship then adopts 14 more so they can come here and sponge off of the American taxpayer.

They had a chance to build a real country just like we did. Instead they've sat on their butts idly watching their country become a trash pit. They are still more worried about getting benefit from their government than they are getting rid of the cartels.

We just had an investigative report done in my area on how the hospitals are charging 3 to 4 times what they should be. When forced to discuss it, it turns out it's their policy to stick it to insured and medicare patients in order to get back the freebie services they give up to illegals.

40% of our school budget is spent on 11% of the students, to fund English as a second language and **** programs for illegals. Again, taking money away from educating actual Americans.

Finally, my wife and I were on a trip and stopped in Spartanburg SC at a fast food place to have lunch. We get out of our vehicle and there is a group of the "poor ole illegals" standing there and they said something lewd to my wife, it was obvious based on they way they reacted and were looking at her/walking around her. I held my temper in check, only for us to be accosted again when we came out, I put her in the truck and told them to get the #### out of there and go back to where the came from, that they needed some manners. Of course being the manly men they are, 5 of them started towards me, until they were introduced to Mr.44 and decided going the other way was a good idea.

They are stealing our future, our children's future and I'm sorry, I'm not going to help them do by buying into some PC excuse of the week for more welfare benefits, the joke English as a second language is and destabilizing our country by letting more deadbeats into our country.

I have no issue with legal immigrants who come in, get a job and learn the language so they can fit in. Illegal though, means your illegal and a criminal, not a hard concept.

SR, you put that well. When I make dictator I am going to fire holder and appoint you to his job. I agree with you but once in awhile I get soft when I meet a few as said trying to keep a low profile and working hard. Thats why I cant be a dictator or even run for dog catcher.

This is kind of a fun thread to read. Its dancing around the head of a pin, with poor Lee tolerating the politics just under the surface. All of us read the news (no, not the stupid TV stuff). But we're not getting any details at all. The FBI and such have put a total embargo on any hard facts, just touchy feely stories about the poor widow, his children, and his fellow church members. There's no way if it is F&F connected that the information will get out until after the election.

As far as the comment above about us invading another country, just what do you folks call them invading us? The sucker host nation?

I have no negative feelings about the Border Patrol, except they're not equipped for the job and approach it each day (night) with their hands tied. Someone mentioned 2500 Marines. OK, that should cover Arizona pretty well. What about Kali, New Mexico and Texas? Even the drug cartels learn pretty fast. I'm sure they would after every stinking invader and smuggler they send north doesn't come back, or you can find a pile of them tossed over the border to rot in the sun. They'd learn, or soon there wouldn't be any left to send out.

Killing our folks on our soil needs to be fixed. How do you think the Ruskie's would handle this kind of thing. Kind and gentle as they are. We don't really need machine guns, just a few Marines that are turned loose with the rifles they train with. We just don't have the nerve to fix the problem.

When I make dictator I am going to fire holder....

When you say fire Holder IMO, you are going easy on him. I prefer indict.

So this thread does not drift too far off, I will suggest that the raging drug culture in this country is responsable for this crime. It seems like CA has effectivly legalized pot use and pot selling. I have heard that this has opened up a whole new set of problems, but it is nearly impossible to put the genie back in the bottle.

Back when I was a boy in the 50`s and Ike was president. He had the bracero program. The Border | 1942 Mexican Immigrant Labor History
When I was about 13 I worked in the fields around these people in wisconsin. Every summer you would see tons of old pickups and cattle trucks filled with them. They made good money for the day. Entire familys small kids up would be working side by side in the fields.
Overall, they would legaly come up for crop harvests and go home and live on the money the rest of the year. It was evidently good for the truck farmers too that employed them. In my experiance it was good for us working kids too. I think that was due to a local grower probley thought he had to hire us local kids that wanted to work as he probley wouldnt have been real popular if he wouldnt hire us but hire the mexicans. Seemed there was work for all who wanted it.
Maybe some of them just didnt bother going back to mexico in the winter. There were knife fights reported every season. It has got out of hand! By the way, green giant cannery where I worked for a couple seasons would also import a lot of jamaicans for doing grunt work.

I've worked in Immigration for a little over 30 years, I could debate/discuss/cuss the Immigration policy of this country for hours. However, this thread is about a young man that was killed in the line of duty, defending the U.S. just like our losses overseas. It's harder to accept perhaps because it on U.S. soil by foreign nationals (evidently). Let's honor the memory of this young man who gave all by wishing condolences to his family & the BP, and swift and merciless justice to the offenders.

Vaya con Dios compadre, y bien viaje...

Feral,

I truly understand your issues. As a Christian, for me it's tough to balance out helping your brother with what's best for the larger group. I think maybe my time as a cop made me realize you can't look at it from the one's standpoint, if you do, you can always justify letting one person slide. I put people in jail feeling bad, but having to realize w/o laws and order we'd all be in trouble.

You've got a good heart, no need to apologize for it.

I would be scared to death to be a one man dictator, no man is wise enough or is just enough for the job.

I also agree, let none of us forget the brave men who were hurt, one losing his life doing the best he could to protect us.

There are two issues here:
1. The "war" on drugs, which is a failure.
2. Illegal immigration.

Both are battles for our survival.

I don't have any issues with these two statements. Perhaps you were not referring to my post, but the drug cartels have declared war on USA law enforcement. (This is different from the war on drugs). Drug kingpins are offering bounties for shooting US LEOs. Folks, we are in a shooting war.

It seems as if this sad fact has been lost in the mix......

RIP Agent Nicholas Ivie

Here's hoping for a full & swift recovery for the wounded Agent currently fighting for his life.
