Two explosions in S/W Austin TX

What is the right word.....

What is the right word for somebody that plans out of the blue to do terrorist activities like shootings and bombings? I guess gassings will be next. Of course people are already sending 'white powder' to many installations government and private. And these bombs people plant that go off when somebody handles them that they put on people's doorsteps? That sure tells me that there is more wrong with mental health in this country and guns are just one way of acting like a terrorist. I say 'act' like a terrorist because I believe that most of these people have no agenda except for killing people in 'cool' ways.

Sad to say, but these recent bombings are an easy way to create terror in the homeland.

Agreed. I always figured they'd get away from the tired old bomb-in-a-crowded-area routine...and discover the true terror of targeting random people at their homes in the burbs. Now, that's truly when no one can feel safe anymore...when people in "flyover country" find it on their own doorsteps. Used to be they targeted just high profile places like NYC. Despite all this, there is a very simple remedy to package bombs. If you didn't order the thing, if anything seems strange...DON'T OPEN IT. Seems simple enough to me.

True.
But these last two bombs were found by two men/boys riding bicycles.
Not sure if they were riding on side of road or bike trail.
Local PD said do not pick up anything, backpacks or any objects outdoors till local area has been swept clear.

Two more tonight.
Two men taken to hospitals.
2 explosions earlier this month, two killed.
Don't pick up any packages.

EDIT....Appears these latest explosions were set off with trip wire.

The some 18 months I lived in the DPR of Austin, I thought I had seen and or heard of everything possible weird and or otherwise. I was there when that dork flew his plane into the irs bldg-and actually spoke with him the day before-waiting to get into the DPR of Austin's Little Walnut Creek Library.

I wonder what freaked-out failed UT student is likely behind this??? Travis County is a lost cause... On the upside-I did meet many great people there in 18 months as well.

Have a retired APD buddy.
Last nights rig was abit more complex.
General thought it is homegrown suspect.
Slight lean to being racially motivated.

I would say a strong leaning to being racially motivated and obviously a sophisticated bomb maker......sigh

Might I suggest Days of Rage, by Bryan Burrough?

Good read, lots of events from the past two years start clicking into place.

Austin in general is pretty weird these days, I remember when it was a part of Texas. As for the explosions they could happen anywhere though, sick minds.

There is no indication that it is racially motivated, and we don't know how sophisticated the infernal machines are as the authorities are not releasing details.

The one shipped via Fedex could well contain some hard evidence and clues.

I strongly agree...maybe the bomber's first mistake.

A lot of follow-up info now.

I don’t think it is a mistake. These guys usually want to get caught., because if he didn’t want to get caught he would stopped after the ones that really left no clues. He could have gone on his way and he wound never be known to us.

Last I heard, one linked to these, was found at a Fed Ex depot in San Antonio.
