Two new military trainers to the collection

They both look good to me. The only "Trainer" I have are 2 copies of the M-1965 Romanian rifles. These would be absolutely the best 22 rifles if the trigger was more consistent. Chromed bore, 3 leaf rear sight, 5 shot detachable magazine, and dove tailed receiver for scope or target sight.

I used one in a competition a number of years ago. At 25 yards, we had 25 aspirin tablets hot glued to dark construction paper 25/25 was the norm, but sometimes the trigger would bind up a little and you would get 23 or 24 per 25. A gunsmith friend of mine tried every trick he knew ti get the triggers consistent, but to no avail. On a more practical side, rabbits at 100 yards were always dead!

I enjoy your collection and th updates, please keep us posted. Ivan

The only trainer I have is a No2MKIV.

Many of the trainers are very solid (but heavy) & accurate .22's. Your Stevens should be a fine example of that.
I've only gotten around to picking one up, my CZ452 Trainer/Special I wouldn't really count. It's a MAS45, a French manufactured (I know) using Mauser tooling from around 1947.

MAS45

While cleaning the cosmoline off - nasty job.

CH47,
I also have a MAS45 I purchased a year or so ago. Luckily someone else cleaned the cosmoline off my example. Mine appeared to be unissued and in quite nice shape.

Yep - mine was leaning on the floor, behind the counter, still wrapped in wax paper. I asked the guy what it was, he said that it had just came in from an estate sale and hadn't looked up the value yet. Soon as I saw it I knew what it was having passed on a used one a few years back.
Gotta love it - never touched by human hands, with 6 mags & a leather sling. I took it & ran. These are getting more & more collectible and valuable.
Great shooter but, as I mentioned, heavy!

I have a book on 22cal military training rifles. They came in bolt action and semi auto. I looked in my lgs and seen them in a corner rack full of dust. No one knows what they are. My 5yo grandson has these too.
