Zoey, lower left has kidney failure and Itty, lower right has a YEAST disease. Doc says all we can for Zoey's ,10 yo ten pounds,is to give her high-dollar canned food from the vet...??

We think Itty has a yeast infection, the vet's not sure. The inside of his ears turn bright red but he doesn't have a fever. We are giving him 1/2-1 teaspons of apple cider vinegar with mother. He looks better when we make sure he gets it. He's 7 yo, 9 pounds and bounces around like he always has.

Cadillac, top, is an 8 yo, 13#s, and is too much of a knockerhead to get ill.

Thanks Dan

Sorry Dewey,
I know what its like to have our little family members ill
or under the weather. Is this breed prone to having
health issues? They are all little cuties. Just keep on
giving them lots of love.

Chuck

Another wish for complete recovery. Never any fun when the puppies are sick.

anyideas???

Did your vet give a name for the condition? There are a number of websites specializing in pet diseases, etc. You can access a wealth of knowlege.

Best thoughts for little friend. It's terrible when they aren't feeling well. :(

Best wishes from my Papillon, Prince, aka Spike, and myself. They are great friends, absolutely wonderful dogs, sure hope they get well soon. BTW, my little guy is pretty big for a Papillon, 16 lbs 3 oz at the last vet visit (not fat, just big, I call him Papilonius Giganticus), now 8 1/2 years old, time sure flies. Oh yes, I belong to him!

What does "apple cider vinegar with mother" mean? I had a dog that had a reoccurring yeast infection in one ear or the other for years. Vet had me treat it with ear drops and antibiotics. His ears stood up normally and vet said ear infections were not common with dogs with that type ear. The red is from scratching. Vinegar is acidic so watch the dogs tooth enamel if you feed it to him as opposed to putting it on his ears.

Dhronic renal disease

I have had two of my dogs come down with this. It is sneaky. The causes are variable but you end up with an animal that can not handle a lot of protein in their diet and so need to be on a special diet with high quality protein in limited amounts. One of mine lasted over 2 1/2 years and finally had a "stroke" but had lost weight from her normal 38# down to 28#. She had good quality of life and when she would not eat the Hill's K-D, a slice of pizza with just cheese and sauce would usually "jump start" her for a couple of weeks.

The classic early signs of drinking lots of water and urinating all the time are often missed.ignored.

There are recipes on the internet if you want to make your own.

I hope your dog is able to do well and remember each case is an individual and you may get a good bit of time with her.
