two old ones I found

one has a 173xx on the crane & cylinder and 5557xx on the butt, 4" barrel. the other has what looks like 99xx (really small and hard to read) on the crane & cylinder and 1474xx on the butt, 6 1/2" barrel. can anyone give me a date on these as to when they were made? both are 38 S&W special

Look under the ejector rod on the bottom of the barrel and on the face of the cylinder above the ejector star and make sure the serials there match the butt. Someone with a Standard Catalog will come along and give you some ideas on dates. And, please post some pictures so we can see the darlings.

The numbers match. Except for holster wear and some minor scratches they both are in great shape. Still fairly tight and very accurate. Pictures will be posted soon.

Does either revolver have a letter prefix on the butt? It may be over to the side of the digits. Example- K 12345
