Beautiful wood on the .270 win !! I've got a mint .300 H&H with zero grain...nothing but straight from tip to toe. NOT complaining...but your .270 is more of what I'd like.

Bought it for the same reason I bought my 1955 5" .357.

Also, I had 100 rounds of .270 ammo in my ammo box and it had that gorgeous wood.

The fact that it is one of the all time favorite hunting rifles helped but did not drive my decision. Knowing that it is a desired gun for use in the field made me more comfortable, but I bought it cuz I liked it, especially the wood.

Speaking of wood, and because no one else mentioned it... Nice firewood pile, too. I just brought in another armload a little while ago. Christmas season is hard on the wood supply!

Gourgeous rifles. I wonder if Husqvarna had your Winchesters in mind when they made their Featherweight. This one is 7MM Magnum.

Congratulations-that .270 has one of the nicest standard grade M70 stocks I've ever seen. Jack O'Connor would be proud.

FWIW, the composition buttplate didn't ship until early '59, even though your serial no. is a '58 (I couldn't read it). No biggie, just interesting to date them.

I have been known to buy a piece of wood and have no use at all for the gun attached....there's something about a well figured piece of wood that just makes me all warm and fuzzy inside....
