Nice stock wood on the scoped rifle! Is that the 270 or 243?

Bought the .270 because of the wood

Fiddles from head to toe

Scope is Leupold 1-4X VX-1 Turkey scope with duplex reticle

Beautiful wood on the .270 win !! I've got a mint .300 H&H with zero grain...nothing but straight from tip to toe. NOT complaining...but your .270 is more of what I'd like.

Are you telling me the fact that it was a pre-64 model 70 in one of the best all-around calibers had NOTHING to do with your decision?!?

Bought it for the same reason I bought my 1955 5" .357.

Also, I had 100 rounds of .270 ammo in my ammo box and it had that gorgeous wood.

The fact that it is one of the all time favorite hunting rifles helped but did not drive my decision. Knowing that it is a desired gun for use in the field made me more comfortable, but I bought it cuz I liked it, especially the wood.

Speaking of wood, and because no one else mentioned it... Nice firewood pile, too. I just brought in another armload a little while ago. Christmas season is hard on the wood supply! :D

Congratulations-that .270 has one of the nicest standard grade M70 stocks I've ever seen. Jack O'Connor would be proud.

FWIW, the composition buttplate didn't ship until early '59, even though your serial no. is a '58 (I couldn't read it). No biggie, just interesting to date them.

Good shooting.

I have been known to buy a piece of wood and have no use at all for the gun attached....there's something about a well figured piece of wood that just makes me all warm and fuzzy inside....

sorta like a pair of well turned female legs, pleated skirt, and heels...
sweatin'...

I sure like those pre 64 70's. I have one and looking for another. I told my wife it would make a nice Christmas present, we'll see.
