Tyler T-Grip 5-6 week delivery time question

Did you order knowing it'd be 15-20 weeks wait or did it change after your order was received?

When I ordered their site said 5-6 week wait and it changed a week or two after I'd gotten my order in.

I'm not minimizing your long wait, I'm just saying that what Tyler did isn't right as I ordered believing my wait would be X, now it's Y. If I pulled that on someone in the Classifieds, it'd be totally unacceptable.

So, on a happier note, what kind of custom grips are you getting?

I just mailed off a check for a couple. They will get here when they do. Waiting for something I want is never a problem. Those with a unique product or skill will always have a back log as they choose to maintain the quality at the expense of production and the increased cost of re-investment into the business with additional equipment ans staff. Keep in mind that most of these folks are near one man operations. Go order a custom revolver from the best and you will discover what wait means. If folks don't like to wait then they go go to those that offer faster deliveries and be happy with the product they receive. I suspect with Tyler they batch run a particular size when it makes sense to do so. Not uncommon for small production entities. Take a look at Milt Sparks or Matt Del Fatti's business model.

Valid point Boxhead.

I called and spoke with Bryan and he stated he's just finishing up 600 brushed aluminum units to fill outstanding orders. He indicated that they've been able to get much more accomplished working overnight shifts.

He indicated those orders should be shipping next week.
