Tyler T Grip company shutdown - shipping again

The gold colored grip adapters were introduced less than five years ago. They were made of silicon bronze. The main selling point was for BBQ guns.

Mershon produced under contract to S&W the monogrammed grip adapters after the Tyler paten expired. Pachmayr (Lyman) continued production when they purchased Mershon.

luis, thanks for the correction regarding the bronze adapters. I've never seen one personally and assumed they were an early product, not a later one. The couple gold-colored ones I have are paint (or powder coat or whatever it is) over aluminum.

The ones you have are the rare early production. Treat them with care. I remember in a conversation with someone at Tyler years ago that gold was introduced because they had seen a lot of positive response to the Taurus and Ruger BBQ guns.

I have one of these. whether it is early model not sure. about 5 months ago I found one at a gun show. I bought it to fit my model 28-2 whenever I get one. the guy said he had lots more but he didn't bring them to the show. said he would get back with me but he never did. like an idiot I didn't take his information. he was just a guy there with his wife and didn't have a business card or anything. he didn't seem to know what they were. I think he was some guy hit on hard times and just trying to unload a bunch of stuff.

The Columbus Dispatch recently related about how the Ohio AG closed down a guy when "over 50 people complained" about how he was scamming them on Craig's List. I forget what he was "selling" and it doesn't matter.

All of youse guys who are being swindled - contact the Oklahoma AG. If everyone does it, the AG should react!

T-Grip catalog

Did anyone happen to copy and save the size chart from the Tyler website before it went away? If someone were to post it on here or in a different thread, it would sure be handy for future referance.

Tyler T-Grip Web Site Down! Great News!

Finally! Possibly the beginning of the end of the human dynamo that can churn out 3,300 t-grips by himself. Too bad he didn't know anyone that could ship them!

End of the line

The website is shut down. The 800-number is disconnected. Looks like whoever was cashing the checks has finally quit paying the bills and flown the coop. I filed a complaint with the Postal Inspectors, left a message for OKCPD, but am not holding my breath.

Wow, its too bad. I managed to get one for my M-10 right before he got sick. Just made that revolver, but I'm kinda old school anyway.

I can't say with certainty that they were Tyler products, but two of my coworkers carried K-Frames (one M15 and one M19) in the early 80s with brass or bronze colored grip adapters that were well-worn at that time and the color seemed to go deep. They seemed a little narrower than the black and "silver" Tylers I had at the time.

I never cared for the shiny gold Tylers of recent years, but whatever those adapters were back then, they just looked right on a blue-worn S&W with walnut magnas.

I had a price list /catalogue from Melvin back in the day, it was filled with Bible passages between the products. I've use T grips since the '80s and some of them were decades old when I got them!

I know his t-grips have made many shooters better and saved lives.

It's sad that it ended like this, I hope the family is ok.

Kinda sad and ironic what the website had to say in 2008:

Many of our beloved customers already know that our T-Grips and Trigger Shoes are made right here in Oklahoma. We do all of the work ourselves. We take great pride in our job, everything from customer service to the production of your pieces. Everyday, we personally look forward to speaking with you and doing what we enjoy most, continuing on with the long tradition of T-Grips and Triggers Shoes. We hope that Melvin Tyler would be proud that his name and inventions are still being produced and carried on to this day.

Thank you all so much for your support of our family owned and operated business.

What a shame, I know of another good company that was run into the ground by the heirs.

Thanks for posting the size chart DB! Does anyone have a size chart for the Tyler Trigger Shoes to post?
Thanks!

Sorry I was only responding to Rawhide's request for the Trigger Chart.
I did not mean to Spam the board jessegpresley. I would have preferred you PM your comment instead of a public post though. No harm done.

I for one appreciate your posting of the trigger shoe chart. I have often seen trigger shoes put up for sale on eBay where only the coded number was known; the owner usually has no idea what gun or guns they will fit. Now I can immediately tell if the shoe will fit something I want to equip with a shoe. Thanks for the information.

John
