Tyler T Grip company shutdown - shipping again

I dont think anyone would order from Tyler if they have seen this post, I wish I had seen it prior to ordering. Who is this member with a comparable product?

Read the full post above:

Search wrangler5 or BK grip adapters, and place an order you will receive without fear of delay or ripoff.

We have the alternative right here, with a Forum member who not only makes a comparable product, but offers trustworthiness and peace of mind when ordering from him.

This is true unless you're a little diversified and have other brand revolvers.

I had already ordered before I found this thread. I also had a member want to sell me one for $30 shipped. I waited 20 days to get it but I did get it. Next time I will order a BK. Jim

I also placed an order before reading this thread, but I did get my grips unlike some of you. I placed an order for one square butt K-frame T-grip in the buffed aluminum finish, and a second one for a round butt K-frame. The check was mailed out at the end of April, and was cashed by Tyler on 04/28. The work order included with the packaging was dated 04/30. The two grips finally arrived yesterday, 07/08. During that time I received no order confirmation, estimated ship date, or any other form of communication from Tyler. Both grips fit well, if not perfectly. The finish appears to have been produced by buffing with a wire wheel. The only glaring fit and finish issue I can see is an un-chamfered cut on the bottom of the grip where the rough casting appears to have been cut off from the sprue. It will not cut the hand, but it could use some rounding.

The square butt grip has found a permanent home on my Model 67, but I think the round butt frame is still too thin even with the Tyler. That is more a matter of taste than a flaw in the product though.

Would I buy more? I'm not sure. They're made nicely enough, and the $24/per adapter price of the examples I purchased isn't expensive, but the long wait time and lack of communication is alarming. Picking up a set of grip adapters from BK is likely a better solution if you can deal with the more limited finish options, and if your particular revolver design is supported.

Picture related - my Model 67 with the Tyler square butt grip adapter.

TYLER MFC T GRIPS-NO PRODUCT/NO COMMUNICATION

Like others I unfortunately recently order 2 T grips over 2 months ago. I am relatively new to collecting K frames I intend to shoot, and ran across the T grips, but unfortunately none of the apparent long and troubled history.

My check was cashed in less than a week, but 2 months later I have no product. About a week ago I started trying to contact this company. I should have been suspicious about any online company that only takes personal checks and has no online order system.

Anyway I have left numerous emails and phone messages. No reply to anything.

They are at best incompetent, at worst mail fraud. I intend to file a report with the OK Atty General Consumer Fraud Division for whatever that is worth.

I would suggest anyone wanting this sort of product consider one of the competitors if you really want to receive anything.

I'm sad to hear this...I purchased a T-Grip for a Model 15-4 snubnose several years ago, and received it in a very timely manner. I think that the T-Grip is one of the best ways of maintaining grip index with Magna grips. I did consider getting Magna grips and a T-Grip with a new Model 69 I recently purchased, but went with a Hogue Bantam grip instead. It sounds like that decision may have been the correct one....still sad because I'm "old school" and would prefer the Magnas and T-Grip instead....OMO, YMMV.

I wanted to test their responsiveness before ordering. Several phone calls and emails have gone unanswered for over a month. Indicative of a problem looking for new owners.

I found mine on the forum.

I also ordered a grip adapter from Tyler T Grip over two months ago. Like the quoted poster I have received nothing to date. I did actually get a live person on the phone when I called the company on the morning of June 27th. Talked with a guy named 'David", who instantly responded to my order inquiry, with a litany of excuses that ran the gamut from "lost time on the job due to recent deaths in the family" to "a son who couldn't handle the office" to "manufacturing difficulties". I couldn't get a word in edgewise, but did receive conformation that Tyler had received my order and payment on May 1st but received no estimated time I would receive product. I'm willing to give anyone a chance but now am beginning to doubt the wisdom of dealing with this company. I hope I'm proved wrong, because they put out a good product, when they do produce them. Regards, Gary

Send payment to Tyler Manufacturing, OK at your own risk. They will cash you check immediately, but not send you the product. Also will not answer telephones or reply to emails. Check the BBB and you will see others with similar stories. Learn from my mistake and take a pass.

Around the first of the year, it was taking about 3 months for delivery, depending on the size and finish.

It again falls to me to be contrarian.

Two weeks ago to the day I sent a check in for a #1 T-Grip in flat black to try on my shiny new 649-3.

Delivered today...

Plastic instead of metal, seems a bit flimsy but functions as expected.

As always, YMMV.

I have no connection with Tyler Mfg other than as a semi-satisfied customer.

"Semi"-satisfied only because I like the metal ones better...

Did I read this right? Plastic?

I'm grateful for this thread. A few months ago I needed a T-Grip and learned about the BK alternative. Shipping was fast and I prefer the double prong attachment. If Tyler started up with free next-day shipping I doubt I'd order from them (Tyler) again.

Plastic with thin copper strip that clamps under the grips...

Seems to work & fit OK, not great. It's not completely rigid.

I'm fairly certain I'd prefer metal, but this will do the job.

So far, this T-Grip with a set of Jay Scott faux stag grips feels pretty good to my fingers.

I have a set of Magnas to try too...

Range trip this week. ;)

Problem is, that the J Scott grips aren't properly relieved for speedloaders so I'll either be still searching or sanding... :(

I still want to try a nice set of wood combat grips w/3 finger grooves too.

Life goes on...

I'm questioning this because Tyler Manufacturing doesn't make plastic grip adapters.

Perhaps you're confusing Tyler with BK's grip adapters.

Thanks for the plug, but I can't recall the last time it took 2 weeks for somebody to receive one of my BK adapters. He also mentioned a "thin copper strip" which I take to mean ONE clip, not the two that BKs have had for a couple of years now.

Could it be that Tyler has switched to plastic, though. I never thought of myself as much of a trend setter, but maybe now . . . ;)

I apologize for any confusion.

On further inspection it's not plastic, but seems to be some sort of cast metal with a thick epoxy(?) coating.

When I tap it with a screwdriver it doesn't ring particularly metallic...

The piece of copper that fits under the grips is a single "U" shaped strip, riveted to the T-Grip with one side a bit longer.

I originally grabbed it from the envelope and stuck it on my revolver without looking at it too closely...
