I believe today is the day the UN gun control treaty is being voted on at the U.N.. If this passes, which Hillary and Obama have both lobbied for, it still needs to be approved or ratified by the congress. Stay alert on this and if it passes the U.N. we all need to contact our reps in DC. This is relinquishing our constitutional guarantees to a bunch of foreigners; the beginning of the end if not stopped now.

The Senate has done a roll call vote indicating they will not sign off on this treaty.

The treaty can be discussed without going into non-related political commentary.

Or, the thread can simply be locked.
Your choice.

I have already sent my two US Senators from GA a letter of thanks for their Y vote on not supporting any UN treaty. Sadly, close to half of the US Senate did vote to support it.

There is the possibility that the President can sign this treaty, and wait until after the 2014 midterm elections to try to have the Senate ratify it, hoping the balance of power shifts more to the left in the Senate by then. I believe there is a statute of limitations between signing and ratifying dates of treaties, which afterwards they become invalid, although I am not certain on the exact time frame alloted. Although it has been debated here previously, on the constitutionality of a ratified UN treaty affecting domestic 2nd ammendment rights, the Supreme Court will ultimately deceide. We have won the last few 2nd ammendment related court decisions 5-4. During the President's term, if he replaces one of the conservative justices, it will tilt the majority, and he will have a court that will rubber stamp anything anything he wants as being constitutional.
