I have a 5" Pro series 9mm.
I upgraded to the APEX flat-faced trigger and forward set sear. WOW! Best trigger ever!
I highly recommend it!

I love the flat trigger on my 1911, but I've never tried a "hinged" flat trigger.

I don't really notice the safety blade, but once the pad of your finger is on the trigger there is just a small amount of take up and its crisp.
I used the 4lb trigger return spring. The kit also came with a 5lb (green) and I understand if I use my original spring it will be even lighter...
Its very much like a single action trigger and the flat face reminds me of a 1911A1.
Installed it myself. But I watched the APEX tactical installation videos and trigger bar loop adjustment video.

Bsmiley, true on the factory spring. I called Apex because I heard the same thing and they told me the factory spring would come in at 3 to 3.25 lbs. Apex trigger on order for my daughters FSMP9 and will put the factory spring back in for the 3 lb goal.

Have you installed the APEX sear or trigger before? The APEX youtube channel has some videos for each, but the reassmebly video and trigger bar loop adjustment procedure are great, helped me a lot.

Most trigger installs will require the loop adjustment. I used a set of feeler gauges just like Randy did in the video. Just watch the sear move and if its not getting full movement, open the loop .005 at a time until it has full movement and you can feel some over-travel.

Your daughter is going to love the trigger. Does she compete with her M&P? That's cool. Jerry Miculek is my hero and I'm a fan of his daughter Lena. She can rock it like her dad!

I have the factory spring in my Pro 9 5" and it is right at 3.25 lbs.

I tried using the spring from a competition kit but trigger return was a bit lazy. The pull was 2.25 lbs.

bsmiley, I am having the trigger installed by a pro pistolsmith because the pistol will be a paper puncher and night stand pistol. It is her first pistol and I want it be as trouble free learning experience as possible.

She did let me put two rounds down range yesterday and I must say it is a sweet pistol right out of box. Almost as nice for me as my CZ.

Thats good info! Lets me know where the sweet spot is, approx 3lbs!

The trigger weight at 4lbs seems about right to me. After I give it an honest go, I might swap in the stock spring and make it lighter....

Having a pro install it is a great idea. I'll be interested in your impressions on the trigger.
I 've had my pro 9 5" for almost 3 yrs. I liked the trigger well enough while I've been working on keeping my technique fundamentals sharp.
Recently I've been shooting some Walthers, and the PPQ trigger got me thinking it was time to improve my M&P.
Best buck fifty I've ever spent on upgrades...
Now I am thinking about a Shield w/ APEX for conceal carry...

I have five M&P pistols. Four of the five have Apex trigger parts...the fifth will as soon as the kit arrives!

Nice looking gun...
What did you use for the gold inlay?

Apex trigger upgrade

I picked up my daughters MP9 full size from the pistol smith today and all I can say is SWEET! He put the factory trigger spring back in and it has a nice three pounds break. I am sure my daughter will love it and will improve her accuracy.

I'm having trouble...... M&P 9c a year ago had dealer install APEX kit.... APXDCAEK which should be a 4 lb pull. Didn't think it felt all that great and I just bought a Trigger pull scale. I tested it and its 5.5lb!!! The dealer is no longer around, I have all parts still, any tips on getting the 4lb or even the 3.5 lb pull???

Thanks!!

I have the Apex competition kit in my newer 5" Pro 9 and it breaks at 3lbs. Shot nice in IDPA but installing the Apex gunsmith barrel is what made it an outstanding tackdriver, so now if I'm points down (just over the perforation), I know it's me and not the gun..
When shooting IDPA, to remain in the Stock Service Pistol class, I had to leave in the factory trigger, but changing trigger internal parts is allowed.

A few weeks ago I bought a S&W M&P in .45 acp. Took it to the range and fired about 30 rounds thru it, I was amazed that a great company like S&W would allow a pistol with such a crappy trigger pull to be sold with their name on it. I have many of their revolvers as well as pistols, all are excellent. I sold that *** for a $50 dollar loss and will never buy another M&P! No pistol with a price about $550 should have to go to a gunsmith for work to lighten the trigger to any acceptable weight. Too bad, I love my S&W revolvers and pistols, therefore I can't help but be amazed why would they allow a problem crappy trigger pull like that exist?

Sounds like it wasn't meant to be for Chuckfw. I didn't think the stock trigger was bad, I just felt it could be improved.
I'm very happy with the APEX Flat trigger.

Installed the apex also. Very nice upgrade and well worth the money.

Did you install the aluminum curved trigger? I know a guy at IDPA that has the aluminum trigger, but so far I'm the only one with the flat faced trigger.
I know some folks who did the forward set sear and kept the S&W hinged trigger.

I'm impressed with the value. Easy to install myself and the trigger went from "okay" to "super". I have a few friends who have worked on their Glock(s), but the APEX surpasses those by quite a stretch.

Anybody who hasn't tried it, just doesn't know what they're missing.
