Unbelievable Find!! 1st Day Production Model 58?

Were these built in numerical order? I thought N frames were built in common sequence and a Model 25 could be sequential to this M58.

I'll find just the right 41Rem Mag one some day.

Still kicking myself (didn't want the 8"+Bbl).

Thank you for sharing a Great Story and Great Pictures

Below, what I'm usually looking for, NIB.

You made the choice I would have. I like any sidearm with up to a 5" barrel, but I only owned one with a 6" barrel and quickly learned they are hard to hip-carry in a holster while driving. That was 1979 and I haven't had one longer than 5" since, with everything I now have at 4" or less..

I don't have any interest in any barrels over 6.5". I have a small handful of .357s with 6 and 6.5" barrels. I can't imagine carrying either one of these every day. Especially while driving.

I have one 5", have a M-58 on its way and a 3.5" 357 Magnum on its way. The last two will be my only 3.5 and 4" guns.

S&W revolvers were completed in random serial number order, even within a production run. So, it is quite possible the revolver with the lowest serial number was the last one completed and shipped. Only a factory letter of authenticity will give you the precise information.
