There needs to be mass firings at all the Federal Agencies. I’m having another Postal Experience. It is downright ridiculous that the percentage of mistakes taking place.
Follow the trail of package I sent from SE Ohio to South Kentucky.
The trail would make a hawk dizzy. I just went through another situation less than a week ago with package being returned from Charleston, WVa. Who is running the store? It’s fast approaching mail in vote time. Somebody better get a handle on USPS fast.
( did I mention the subject package is still on tour ) I’m glad the
PO doesn’t charge by the mile.

Funny you mention this.
Three weeks ago I mailed a letter priority to Denver and it took 12 days,

Two weeks ago after seeing how long it took priority I sent a letter to Iowa regular and that took 9 days.

Both letters had checks in them so I was a bit nervous after 8 days.

In general I am pretty happy with USPS but I do wonder if something may be going on lately. New software or something.

USPS is Not a govt agency but they are somehow “ protected”, “ covered by” govt. regulations. Regardless USPS needs to be dismantled, retirement program scrapped and set up as most “ normal retirement programs”. By chance you know an employee they will tell you very quick the retirement plan is great and they really don’t have to do much. I knew a guy locally that retired few years ago. He told me all about the retirement scam the USPS has. There is NO, Zero Incentive for the employees to do a good job. Seems the days of doing a good job is long gone……

USPS Motto: 'We don't care. We don't have to'.

There's Cat Houses and Crack Houses that are run more efficiently than the USPS.

I know for a fact they treat their carriers like cow patty and the office clerks & personnel pretty bad, too. At least around the PGH area. "Forced" OT is normal. Two of my BILs finally retired as soon as they could. When employees are treated like dirt, you can expect poor service. That used to be a great job for vets, especially, with no formal training of anything else. It starts at the Postmaster General's office & flows downhill.
Edit to add: Their "Union" isn't exactly what it's meant to be, either.

My meds are no longer shipped through usps, and i am thankful. Most the time usps does fine, but it's like depending on being able to access the internet, or your computer working,

I sent a priority letter USPS within my own state. (Ga). It took 3 weeks to get there. It visited 3 other states. I went to the PO with photos of the envelope, etc. And they were able to determine that the “computer” was trying to send the letter to X. The (My) hand written address was Y. They “did something “ and poof, it got delivered.

Gotta love it.

I do find it frustrating, but I also agree with “hey, I’ll give you $0.23 to take this letter to my buddy in California…”. Not sure many of us are signing up for that.

Important or over $100 is now going UPS or FedEx. To many foul ups for me. Last years had a guy buy a gun $2350. He went and got USPS MOs,
they never made it here and he is jumping hoops to get his money refunded. Safest way to send money is Cashiers Check from a nationally known Banking Company. Two years ago bought 2 pistols off a forum member. They shipped from PA to Columbus, no problem. They left Columbus but never arrived at my local post office, gone. There is no doubt there is employee theft big time.
It’s like everything else the USPS people in small town America are not the problem. It all from the distribution centers in the big urban areas. The ones that throw the mail in a dumpster behind Taco Bell and spend the afternoon in bar with AC.

That’s a shame. I really hate to hear that about the Post Office. They used to be top notch. Our local delivery drivers are still good.

Carol Toomy has just about run UPS completely in the ground. I’ve heard Fed Ex isn’t doing much better.

This country along with the rest of the world has lost its way.

The USPS does an amazing job of getting millions of letters and packages to their destinations on time.
But when they screw up, they do so royally.
I bought an item from another member here at the other end of my state. It took a scenic tour through seven cities, hitting most multiple times. It actually passed through Memphis seven times. Tracking knew exactly where it was, but it kept getting misdirected. Anyway, it was shown to be in transit from Atlanta when after 32 days it just miraculously appeared in my mail box.
I kept the tracking number and checked it from time to time. It was always shown to be "in transit" from Atlanta for months until the tracking number finally timed out of the system.

We have all probably had a package do the “world wide” tour. I know that I’ve had a few. I am not sure how this relates, but I have noticed on some of my packages that went on tour, went through Palmetto, GA, as did yours. I realize that your package is scheduled to be delivered today, so fingers crossed, there’s still a chance.

I am curious about something else. It looks like the item was sold on July 25. Or that is when the shipping label was created, but it was 8 days later on August 2 before the item was received by the post office. So, if the package does miraculously show up on time later today, it took 7 days after the post office first touched it. But that is 2+ weeks since the label was created!

USPS is Not a govt agency but they are somehow “ protected”, “ covered by” govt. regulations. ……

Those "protections" you mention come at the cost of many government requirements that do not apply to any other delivery agency. Once of them is the requirement to make rounds to both deliver and pick up mail from every address every day except Sundays and holidays; another is to charge the same postage regardless of where it is sent from or sent to; and yet another is to super-fund their retirement plan far beyond what private corporations are required; and then be stuck with political appointees like the current Postmaster General (DeJoy) who has zero incentive to ensure that the USPS is run in the best way possible.

The Post Office also used to be a good place to "reward" political allies, friends and family - which is why the retirement program is federally mandated to be so lucrative and so well-funded. I think if you have a chat with someone who really knows the intricacies of how the USPS is run and governed, you will find those "protections" come with a real cost.

Maybe its just a local thing, but our local carriers don't even wear uniforms anymore. Kind of unnerving the first time some unkempt disheveled kid in shorts and a dirty t-shirt came in to my office delivering mail. The older carriers took pride in their appearance. One of the old timers passed a few weeks ago and the funeral was huge. Very well liked man.

Shipping today either leaves on a full truck or the next one out.

The US postal service was first and foremost a government employment program. It worked well for many years. USPS postage is now voluntary taxation or a lottery. Any mail that is actually delivered or office that is open since COVID is a happy accident. The last time that I went to the downtown USPS office, the staff were all over teach other in plain view as the customers entered and quickly left. I hear of a new system in town that does not work and causes previously unheard of delays. Even our business mail has become delayed or often lost in Houston. More and more often we are forced to produce Certified Mail slips to prove that we sent something that never arrived. We are moving everything online as much as possible to get around the no longer refunctioning USPS.
