Anyone watching this? Good thing there is a repeat of Longmire on after it, or I do not think I would continue watching.

I never read the book so I do not have any idea but so far it's not holding my interest. Like most Steven King stuff it takes a while to warm up I guess.

Only good part is Natalie Martinez (NCIS NY) and Rachelle Lefevre.:D:)

I'm working on liking it, but "work" is the operative term. I may not stay with it through the full season. I don't mind suspending disbelief for a good drama, but I hate to suspend basic standards for writing, character development, acting, and so forth.

Sometimes Steven King is on my wavelength and sometimes not, or maybe it's the other way around. Films of his books sometimes hit and sometimes don't, regardless of whether I liked the book or even read it. I'm not sure this Dome effort is going to be successful in the way it needs to be. One of the problems is that Dean Norris, who is terrific in Breaking Bad, just doesn't seem to me to occupy the central role here as convincingly as he needs to. John Goodman would have been great.

I watched the first three episodes, and it's not bad thus far. Since it is network, there will be limitations to what can be said and shown, and I don't think it will approach the cult status or production quality of non-network hits like Dexter, Breaking Bad, or Sons of Anarchy.

All that said, adaptations of King's work begin and end with The Shining.

I read the book. It is a BIG story with a LOT of characters some good, some bad, and some really bad. As a lot of King's 1000 pagers there are many small side stories and you can get lost in them if you aren't careful. I seriously doubt the tv production will touch the meat of this tale. With a few exceptions like Misery, Carrie, and The Shinning the movies don't quite hit the mark.

We are not watching them as they are televised. We are DVRing them and will watch them all together in 3 consecutive evenings. We don't do the series thang where you have to wait a week between episodes. We either DVR each episode and watch them all together or just wait till they come out on netflix and rent them all together.

I thought this concept of a bubble dome over a city sounded familiar, and it was. I'd read about it in a Robert A. Heinlein SF book as a kid.

I think it was mentioned in, "Between Planets." Did any of you read that? Been over 40 years since I did.

i read the book and loved it...it is one of his best works...i have only watched the first 2 episodes and have the last two drv-ed to watch yet. so far the series does not hold water compared to the book...too many changes, and not enough character development. i'll watch it until the end, but won't spout off about how great it as as it is not that great.

don't judge this book by it's made for tv movie

Please avoid anything/everything King - he is a rabid anti gunner.

of course he is ... pick anything he's ever written. and see how the proper implementation of a gun, in any story would bring it to resolution in two chapters or less through direct problem elimination. His job security depends upon an antigun view.

I didn't watch it because it appeared to be a dumb concept. King doesn't make everything good.

Isn't the dome just parable? In some ways it reminds me of Jericho. A small, isolated town struggling to come to terms with the problems that are bound to arise.

I just watch the little newspaper editor. I'd watch an hour of her anytime. the problem is, she's only on about 1/3rd of the time.

I watched a couple episodes, just couldn't get into them. I was really looking forward to it since I had heard good things about the book.

Read the book and loved it, but just can't see Norris as Big Jim Rennie. I watched the 1st episode, and didn't like it so haven't bothered with it. I get King's newsletter and he send out basically an apology and defense of the TV version and how folks that read the book probably wouldn't like the tv version, that true for sure.
