Hi all! I just wanted to share my latest find. I stopped by a local haunt to get spare magazines for a bottom-feeder (semi-auto) I bought last week, when I spyed a S&W on the counter being cleaned, it had just come in and hadn't gone in the display case yet. It turned out to be a 3" round butt model 65-3. It looked to be in fine shape except for the fact that the previous owner switched the thumb piece to the new type for some reason. It looked to have been fired mostly with .38s, as rings were visible in the chambers from the shorter cases. Lock up was tight, and the double action was slick. Serial number is AEK8xxx, shipped 1984 according to SCSW. I was not looking for a .357, but could not resist it when it was offered to me at $250 OTD. I have seen many nice 65s on this forum and have heard good things from their owners. See what this place does to you! Best of all it came with the box, and original grips. The grips are beauties and look like new. It also came with a pair of Uncle Mike's boot grips. I guess you find things when you're not looking for them! Here's a couple of quick pics after cleaning:

Here's a pic with its blue steel twin brother, my model 13-4, shipped with the rubber grips shown:

Whoa! You stole that gun! That gun should make a fine companion.

Very nice acquisition! I know about finding when not looking, as I stumbled on a 64 yesterday. It'll be joining the flock as soon as it's paid for. 250.00 out the door? You need to play the lottery!

BUT I live in Phila.
Where did you get so lucky?
BTW I was laid off a couple months ago, So no gun shops for me, So I have to live through folks like you for the time being,,, I banned myself from gun shops till I get a new job....

$250.00 out the door...OMG why cant I get so lucky...with the box to boot...some people have all the luck...one day I will find my lucky gun ONE DAY!!!!!!

Some folks can go wadin' in a feed lot and come up with a rose. Me, all I get is stuff on my boots.

Very nice acquisition.

I came across an excellent condition model 65 3" today at a local pawn shop but it had a price tag of $599.00:eek:

You definitely bought that one "right". If the action on yours is anything like mine - you're gonna fall in love! The Model 65 is to K frame .357's like the Model 28 is to N frame .357's - a reliable, no-frills, workingman's gun.

Enjoy!

Jerry

You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can, and will be used against you in a court of law....

You should be arrested. I just parted with $500 for a 65-5. I'm swapping mine to the new thumb latch. You want an old one?

For $250, it's yours!
