Unfair business practice?

Sigs are great guns. I wouldnt let the bad experiance with their customer service detour me from buying one. My limited dealing with Smiths customer service has been great. I cant get decent customer service from MANY companies and people. Including my doctor. Doesnt mean he's not a great guy. Fact is, the world we live in hardly anyone cares about serving you unless they can get a hand on your wallet. Sorry for the rambling. Mike.

I for one could care less how great a product is or how popular. A screw you attitude wont get my buisiness. I would do the same as S.M. ( share my experiance with my friends) and with one minor change. The Sig would be history!

So you would buy a POS as long as they treated you like a prince and kissed your butt too? Not me. S&W customer service has been quite good to me with my malfunctioning 329 Nightguard. But I would have preferred NOT to have had to send it in for a fix. My P226 in .40S&W has been faultless since I bought it. I can't wait to buy more SIGs. It's GETTING THEM that's the hard part.

Sigarms makes a great product. I've been extremely happy with my P226R-22. I wish I could shoot dirt cheap bulk .22LR ammo through it, but when I bought the gun I knew it functioned best with high velocity ammo so I knew what I was getting. The fact that it only came with one mag is unforunate though, considering that extra mags cost more than S&W M&P mags. But at under $500 new I can't complain. I would be unhappy if I paid $800 for a new P229 though and only got one mag. At that price range there are a lot of choices, and most of them come with multiple mags. It's an odd choice by Sig to ship with only one mag, but I assume the decision makes sense to them from a business standpoint. I guess they figure that the cost savings from shipping only one mag (and the revenue from selling more mags after initial purchase of a Sig pistol) will more than make up for any loss in sales that results.

I have worked with Sig for the best part of 20 years, on a daily basis at times. Several thousand Sig guns have passed through my hands. Every organization has it's issues. Are they perfect?? no, and yes I have had head banging sessions with them, but they are still the best manufacturer selling the best fighting pistol on the market. I have dealt with other manufacturers who are far, far worse. Because of my employement I am not free to name names, but in todays market, this is a very minor issue. I fear far worse is on the way..

I worked in a gun store/range for years. the best service we received was 1)S&W 2) Ruger 3) Kimber. I was called a liar on another forum when I gave examples of bad service from other companies. we had a RENTAL inventory and had more experience than an individual would have with just a few guns. I do not care what anyone buys but when you ask for a personal opinion I base it on experience, a bunch of it. I own guns made in Austria; Mannlicher-Schoenaur.

The only Sig I would agree with you as being a "best" would be the P210. This is not a Sig Forum, so I won't get going in a rant, but Sig, the Company, does not now, and has never cared about the normal customer. A Government contract or the military Yes, folks like most of us, NO!

we had a used Sig here and there in rental but never had one last more than 8,000 rds. Berettas would not last 5,000. Sig wanted their product in rental but would not repair them free like almost everyone. after six visits and getting NO they finally agreed to repair rental guns free so we did the rental program with them. I am no longer in the business so I can say nothing of the current situation. I had a Sig 210-6 but that is another gun altogether than the B-flat, vanilla, stuff most folks have. had a 220 in 45 and 9mm and a 239, these are a far cry from the 210-6.

I wouldn't be in a big rush to bash SIG (or any other) guns. There are quite a few agencies using them that have no complaints at all. And one can find problems with the current S&W guns. I just returned a brand new S&W 329 Nightguard for light primer strikes. Why would anyone think that the crappy economy isn't affecting gun companies just like it is affecting individuals? EVERYONE is tightening their belts. For gun companies that may mean one less mag in the box or a cheaper container for the gun or whatever. I'm just happy that gun makers haven't said F-it and given up on selling guns completely.

I've been in this game a long time; I know better than to engage in such discussions, as politics, religon, and who makes the best gun/caliber, but I stuck my foot in it... This is all I will say. For twenty years we have had approx. 800+ various Sig handguns on the street. 1/2 million rounds consumed per year. 50 guns assigned to a very well trained and demanding SWAT Team, who,if it can be broken, will break it. 30 Sig patrol rifles. In the real world, not a rental arcade, with numerous, did I say numerous documented street shootings. Not data from some gun rag..
Not one, failure, not one gun has been sent back to Sig.. Not one.!! We just spent close to 75,000 dollars on some more Sigs, and yes, we had to add some for magazines... is it worth it.. Ask our troops who do the fighting...

In a time when the gun industry in general is having a banner year in sales, and given, (your words) how great sigs are, they are doing so bad in sales they need to cut back on 1 mag to save money? BS! They are trying to cash in on the run on guns. Pure and simple.
Glock has not done this. S&W has not done this. Beretta has not done this. Colt, who is in trouble, has not done this. Ruger has not done this. I could go on. They are not having hard time, sig is greedy...

The reputation sig had passed when the sheet metal slides and proof marks went away. They have always been overpriced, and overrated. They are good guns, equal to their peers, just overpriced by about $250...And now they want to ding me for the price of a mag...

In a word...and an Arab word at that...Obama. Sales are up 31% because of Obamafear, not because one gun is better than another. Since NOBODY knows the REAL reason why SIG decided to cut back on mags, all these theories are just that...theories. But if PITA whiney customers are gonna make a big stink about one mag being deleted, I wonder what they will say if the whole product line gets eliminated? That has happened with Colt. No more wheelguns. For a while it was no more Colt ANYTHING. And then when they returned, a bunch of whiners complained about plastic triggers and mag housings. Some folks would gripe if you hung them with a new rope

And the only reputation I know of with stamped, non-stainless slides on SIGs was a lot of rust. I think they can afford to lose THAT "reputation".

I don’t doubt SIG has a good product; I have had mine on order for 20 weeks when they told me it would not take more than 6. I would have canceled long ago if I doubted the product quality.

I can attest to SIG’s absolute distain for the common ordinary customer. The do not reply to inquiries, email or snail mail. They deliver out of order sequence. They change terms after orders are placed. And I will not repeat the other stuff that people post.

My local dealer has refused to stock or order SIGs for two years because of fights with sales/service.

Early in this thread I posted I had 3 times used S&W customer service and it was awful. I'm no fan of it, BUT, they are not ripping me off on a magazine. I still get two with the price leader Sigma.

I would respect them more if they just told the truth. We can make more money in this time of a buying frenzy and we are going to take advantage of it. OR, better yet, just raise the price $44 and include the mag. Nobody would say much and people would not feel like they are being screwed again. I wandered over to the sig forum to see how happy the faithful were and found even more ways they are screwing their customers...not putting alum grips on the P238 when they list them in all their ads..I also remember the "Velocity" magazine that you had to pay for and subscribe to. Supposed to be 4 issues per year, they took my money, sent one issue, then did not print anymore for over a year. Several phone calls and a letter and they returned my money. They also made a corp decision during the mag ban to withdraw the P226 & P228 from the civilian market because it had high cap mags...that lasted a while and a new CEO fixed that. I do know for a fact, as a dealer, I had an order I had on the books for months and when my product was produced, they pulled it to fill a police order...and I'm sure they paid less than I was...but I was a civilian and they could care less about my business...
