I was at a gun show this past weekend and saw a totally mint unfired Model 10, not even a trace line on the cylinder. The seller wanted $599 and I was tempted, but had just purchased a Remington Model 870 Magnum, so I had spent my budget for the day. Did I pass on a real gem at a fair price? What do you think?

Did this include a mint box and all original contents? Barrel length? Model 10's are pretty common and a whole bunch have been made over many years. Nice little guns but that seems high to me. Mint box and papers and short barrel would help it to the collector.

Unfortunately, it did not come with the original box, etc - or I probably would have seriously considered taking it home. It was beautiful, but not something I can't live without...

Oh, and it appeared to be a 6 inch tapered barrel in a nice deep blue.

I ran across a unfired nickel 1962 model 10 several years ago.It was a sight to see but no box with it so I fired it.

If I found an older nickel that was unfired, I think I would have kept it that way - AND found a beat up one to shoot!

Oaks show?

I saw a few 4in 28-2s in very good shape in the $425-450 price range.

Yeah - I was at the Oaks show. I saw a couple Highway Patrolman, a Colt 357 - and a few other interesting ones, but nothing that screamed 'take me home'.

Detroit Police Md 10-5

I recently bought a Md 10-5, factory nickel, 5 inch barrel in mint condition from a LGS not known for low prices. It was made in 1975 or 1976 It's just about perfect in every way but no box and no docs. Also, the gun was issued and marked on the back-strap to the Detroit Police. $450.00.
