Unknown (by me) George Lawrence bracelets or anklets

Can someone explain to me what they are for and how to use them?
Made by Lawrence I think 30/40 years ago and auctioned as "Vintage George Lawrence 3" Leather Target Gun Arm Bands"
To me they look like anklets to block the legs of a horse or cow.

You have two shooting cuffs. Competitive rifle shooters would use one along with a short sling, in place of a conventional shooting sling. The cuff was secured around your support arm above the elbow and the short sling clipped to it.

Al Freeland also offered them.

It's basically the same idea as this type of sling, except it doesn't attach to the buttstock.
