What you have is a .38 Military & Police Revolver (M&P) manufactured, probably, in (no later than) 1951. Post War serial numbers for K Frames were prefixed by either a K, (K-Target, adjustable sights) or a C, (service sights). There was also an S prefix from 1946-48. There are only three models that could have a C prefix at that time, .38 M&P, .38-200 M&P and .22 M&P. The .38 M&P Airweight wasn't introduced until 1952 at SN C223999, which, coincidentally, is the beginning number of the 1952 serial range. From your description of .38 Spl, C14337*, there isn't anything else it can be except a basic M&P.
