unknown model of 38 spl revoler

I have a S&W 38 spl revolver sn C14337*, can't find a model #. SN is on butt and cylinder, any help would be appreciated. Also would there be a problem shooting fully seated dewc it it.

With that serial number it was made around 1949/50 and model numbers didn't start until 1957.

Let me add, welcome to the forum and we love pictures.

If you give more details about the gun we can probably tell you what model it became in 57.

Post some pics and we can nail it down but that serial number falls in the 1948-51 range and can be a model 10, 11, 12, or 45. I'll guess model 10.

4' barrel pinned on right side
on yoke # 70 518 also on frame 70 518 with small #3 and large O
right side of frame 3 screws-1 near hammer, 1 just rear of trigger guard, 1
just forward about trigger. S&W on left side of barrel and 38 S&W special ctg.on right side.

Well it sounds like a 38 M&P which became the model 10. I guess it could be the M&P Airweight(model 12) if it has the light weight frame. But more than likely the M&P.
It is what is called a 5 screw, the 3 screws you mentioned and one under the right grip panel and one in front of the trigger gaurd.

What you have is a .38 Military & Police Revolver (M&P) manufactured, probably, in (no later than) 1951. Post War serial numbers for K Frames were prefixed by either a K, (K-Target, adjustable sights) or a C, (service sights). There was also an S prefix from 1946-48. There are only three models that could have a C prefix at that time, .38 M&P, .38-200 M&P and .22 M&P. The .38 M&P Airweight wasn't introduced until 1952 at SN C223999, which, coincidentally, is the beginning number of the 1952 serial range. From your description of .38 Spl, C14337*, there isn't anything else it can be except a basic M&P.
