Unproud owner of Sigma 40 VE

The problem of taking other peoples experiences is that they are other peoples experiences.

Save yourself some money by not wasting it on more range time/ammo on a gun that you are not happy with. Avoid the aggravation, accept you made a mistake and move on...its called learning.

Trade or sell your Sigma. Get a gun that you can shoot and have confidence in. And it should not take 1,000 rounds to break a gun in that you are satisfied with. Just my 2 cents.

General reply to sigma ve complaints

Three points if I may:

One, Last time, until 6 months ago, I fired a weapon, was 27, Sept 1969.

Two, USMC expert M14 & Pistol, Caliber .45, Automatic, M1911A1 until of course medically retired.

Three, Have nerve damage that causes arm and hand quivering and shaking.

The point you say, let us say I am just satisfied with hitting the target in the take down zone. Something this sigma, which gave me a similar feel to my old M1911A1. But, as complain about a lot here, trigger pull stiffness cause my hand to shake ever more than a 38 Special Snubby.

To my point, I found a fellow in Tenn who was able to take my 40VE trigger pull down from over 12LB to just over 3...

As I recall there is a Y spring and he has a replacement spring and does some other smoothing work. For me, at a reasonable price, since my hands shake to much for me to do it. if he just sent the spring with instructions. (Smith Wesson Sigma SW40E SW9VE SW Hard Trigger Pull Mod

Without this mod in the trigger mechanism I would have never been able to come close to meeting the times and hits required in my "Qual" shooting for my CHL...

Just a opine with an option to overcome an obstacle.

That is all!!

I agree it's an odd resurrection of a thread.

Wow. I find this profoundly difficult to believe.

Are you sure you've got that number accurate in your first post here? (Welcome, by the way.)

If you stand by your remarkable report, perhaps you could show us a video of a trigger gauge along with your gun firing reliable. If the three-pound report was a mistake, however - well, we all make mistakes! :) I certainly do!

with the spring kit from apex, mines down to between 5-6 lbs. ofc mine isnt a sigma its a SD

I understand the frustration. After shooting with 9mms for years I finally got a 40VE. I love the gun, especially after installing the Apex trigger kit. But after 500 rounds I'm still shooting bullseye maybe once out of every magazine and the rest trail down low and left. It's a difficult trigger to master, but the gun is well built and definitely worth it.
The flip side is that when I switch back to one of my 9s at the end of the day I'm more dead nuts-on than I've ever been in my life. The hours of dry firing in the house and the focus on proper technique to master the 40VE, including grip and trigger control, have really paid off. I figure about another 500 rounds and I'll be solid with the S&W.

Check out the several articles on the net concerning the trigger modifications that can be made to the Sigma.I was well pleased with the result I had.

Throw an Apex spring and trigger kit in it and she will be much smoother. I polished the sear and mounting bracket too with 1000 grit sandpaper and gave them a mirror polish (Right off of the Youtube instruction video)

How to polish the sear on the SW40VE and SW9VE - YouTube

I used to SUCK with all striker fired pistols until I started only shooting them, now I suck with 1911s or any single action pistol.keep shooting it and you'll get it down pat.im better with glock/m&p/xd type guns now.

Love threads like these......." I shot a $1000 gun and loved it, but im too cheap too actually buy one so I bought a sub $300 gun. Now I'm pissed it doesn't shoot exactly like the $1000 gun".......guess what the $1000+ guns cost that much for a reason.

The sigma/sd is what it is a low cost reliable DA semi auto that's it nothing more. If you want a fully tuned race gun then buy one.
