I have Freedom Arms Model 97s, one 5.5-inch barrel, the othe 4.35 inch. I seek identical functioning leather cross-draw holsters for both. Here's where I need assistance. I want security straps with stud or snap fasteners that incorporate at least some partial flap-type protection from debris and snow/rain. I strongly dislike full flap holsters, though. Probably the "kicker" in availability is to have the flap to have some sort of way to have it stay open and out of the way for easy reholstering. My thought stops at a flat spring on the interior surface of the flap. But that's just a thought, without my having any actual knowledge or experience that it would function correctly.
I anticipate there is nothing off-the-shelf being available. If such holsters exist, please let me know. If, as I suspect, this holster solution is not currently available, there may be a holster maker on this forum who can do such a functioning holster. Any assistance in providing a solution I welcome.
