I get calls EVERY day, seven so far today, regarding free vacations, insurance, health care products, google map service, requests to register my business (this is my home number, not a business) and on-and-on ad nauseum! This has been going on for several YEARS! At first I would answer them and politely ask that they no longer call. I've "pressed 2" to elect to no longer receive calls. I have told them in no uncertain terms not to call again. I have insulted them with references to their ancestry and have given them the consummate two-word kiss-off. Nothing works. And yes,I have registered my number on the national no-call site, many times! I won't even go into the 30 to 40 junk e-mails I get EVERY DAY! Does ANYBODY have a suggestion as to how to put an end to it,other than disconnecting the phone?:mad::mad::mad::mad:

I was with AT&T for 40 years and was on both state and national do not call lists. Most of the calls I received were junk. I recently moved and Time Warner cable offered a bundled package including phone where I kept my old #. Also included Nomorobo.

When I called AT&T to cancel my service they got all weepy about losing a longtime customer but I told them the junk calls ran me off and I praised TWC's Nomorobo. The cust service rep said at&t offered a similar call blocker and I said why don't you publicize it? She had no answer.

After living with nomorobo for a few months all I can say is IT IS GREAT! It catches almost everything, maybe 3 junk calls total have gotten through in 3 1/2 months. Sign up if you can.

your answering the calls and they will continue to call..

I get 2-3 a week now use to get a lot more .. stopped answering them and they stopped calling .. both of my phones are on the No Call List which is a joke !!!

Do a search on Amazon for "call blocker".

There are 3 varieties of call blockers.

If using a "black list", you record each number by pushing a button the first time they call and they are always blocked from your phone in the future.

If using a "white list", you manually record every number you are willing to accept calls from. Any other caller is always blocked.

There are more advanced units that combine both techniques and record their own lists. They may be more complicated to learn how to use.

Phone answering machine seems the easiest. You see who the caller is; if you don't know you don't answer and it goes to record. At the end of the day I hit erase all calls and am ready for the next day. Never picked up the phone once.

Easy peasy.

On those occasions where my brain stopped processing and I pick up the phone and answer a tell, sometimes, is that one to two second pause for the human to take over the call. Most times I can hang up first when there is no immediate response to my cheerful, "Wadda ya want?"

isn't there a provision for fining those who violate the do not call list?
get an id n report them.

I only have a cell phone, If I don't recognize the no. I don't answer, If it's important, They will leave a message....

Same as above but sometimes I'm bored and will pick up and wait for their "Entry".
Then I have 3-4 answers or questions for them.
The last guy hung up on my first line................
What's your name and where are you calling from?

If it is the say "Yes" scam, just keep asking them questions, where
you don't have to talk.

I also love the "Your computer is infected" gig.

When you are retired, it does not take much to be entertained .

The fixes are:-

Get on the Do Not Call list.

Get caller ID. Don't like the look of the number, don't answer.

Never, EVER, press 2 to stop receiving calls. You just told their system that a live human answered, so they'll be back.

If your provider allows it, set up your phone so that callers with blocked numbers do not get through. Instead, they here a message that says, "The customer with this number does not accept blocked calls.." or similar.

These measures have cut them back to one or two a week at my place.

Unwanted phone calls, will they ever stop? = NOPE

my answering machine is on duty 24/7....on the rare occasion that i pick up the phone and its a "crazie" on the line ....my response to them is not easily forgotten.......

lots of things in life need to be ignored.....loud talkers and unruly kids in restaurants, nascar wannabees on the public highways, indifferent waitstaff, inept retail clerks, unwanted telephone calls.....if you let them get to you.....you ll drive yourself nuts.....

Have the same problem as OP. Should say had the same problem. Yes, I'm on the national do not call list, and the Texas do not call list. I believe these people use the list as a phone directory tho. Doesn't seem to stop anyone from calling. And no, to answer the question, they will never stop. It's been 8 years since we got this number, and the calls keep coming.

Digit One call blocker. You can block the entire area code or a part of the number. Also allows blocking by name, so you can block Out of Area, Not provided, etc. Up to 1000 numbers. Or block all numbers and allow in only the ones you want. It's 100 dollars well spent for me. It only works on a regular land line tho. If you don't have caller ID, you need to get caller ID.

Digitone ProSeries Blocker
