Hello 28 followers, anybody have a pic of a 28-1 yoke and 28?
Just doing some research and can not find any pics.
Help appreciated. Best
Up date. Was suppose to be a 28-1. Well, the quest continues. Just a -2 well worn 6". Im looking tonight at the club meeting.
Can not have to many Mod-28s . Like I said, you just keep following leads. Thanks for help. Best

Hello A10, Im all most 70 and still looking for a 28-1. Why, I dont know?
Like you. I have lots of all the N frame 357 mags, but never snagged a
28-1 . Obsession? Probably. Im still looking. Best.

Probably because there was only one of them ever made!

A slight exaggeration, of course, but there weren't many. Lots of us were collecting S&W for decades before we ever saw one or even a picture of one. A comparison with hen's teeth comes to mind. :)

I have a first year issue Model 28. S/N S-1189xx. 6"bbl, superb shape metal.
Grips are old and comfortable.
I will be taking photos of it tomorrow and plan on posting them here.

Well, I bought the 28-2 6". N88320, I figure 1968. I will clean it up morrow.
Shield looks nice and clean, as does the bore and holes. Not mint or collector grade. It was a bargain price. Has some very nice targets on it.
Best

Thanks Bill, Wow! was I off. For the same price as a period Mod-10,
I could not leave it on the table. When did they stop stamping the "H" on the back of the cylinder? Thanks, Best.

Pre Model 5 screw - no H
Pre Model 4 screw - 4" has the H, 6" does not
28-0 - 4 screw - has the H
28-1 - 6" has the H, 4" not found yet
28-2 - has the H (S serial number)
28-3 - no H

I don't currently have a 28-2 with a N serial number so I don't know if they have the H. The above is true for both my 4" and 6" barrels, except as noted.

Thanks - Mike

My 28-2 .44 Spl. conversion is #N8023 and has the H on the cylinder.
Bill, would that be about 1964? That was a local smith's estimate.

Like JP said, I thought the -1 was a unicorn.

I have a no dash (S) with the -1 features, and a -2 (N).

Only ever saw a picture of a -1, so they do exist.

Larry...N925 (28-2) was shipped in May 1970. Your 28-2 dates to late 70 or early 71. A 28-2 dating to 1964 would be in the S230000-S245000 serial number range.

I have a 28-2 4 inch serial #S2473XX that was shipped from Badger Shooting supply in I believe Wisconsin, in July 1964. I have the invoice from them that was in the box when I got the revolver.

OK guys , here is a new one. I was speaking with a fellow Mod28 fan last night. He said he saw a Mod-28-1 at a big show last year. The guy wanted
$4000, firm. He passed. Did you catch the "tell"? to many dashes.
It was a 4". AH, the power of a punch set.
