Went down to the Gander in my area to pick up some targets for today's trip to the range.

As I was checking out, I asked the clerk if they had any AR's for sale and if prices had been raised. He said that he didn't think that prices had gone up, but that "they weren't putting any more out"

Someone more cynical than me might think that they were waiting to see what the replacement cost of "new" inventory is going to be before dipping into their stock. Hmmmmm.

The thing is, their wholesale price has not gone up, but these gun stores are selling them for 3 times (or more) cost.

Availability may be low or nonexistant now, but wholesale prices have not gone up.

I got lost in Gander Mtn in Lake Mary Fl. quite a few times. My wife smacked me back into reality and i had only covered 1/4 of the store.
Their online market had reasonably priced items but only because they were linked to the manufacturer.. The gun prices were somewhere between the upper stratosphere and the face of the moon. Specifically they had a glock 27 (40 cal) for 650$ and my LGS got me one for 200$ less. I do totally understand their overhead situation and its a nice store with state of the art ranges and virtual experiences but it is just a little pricey. There are alot of first time gun owners at the counters too and it is a little un-nerving seeing them point guns in all directions.
Gl and have fun

Just curious... as to where you got that information? Three times cost seems extreme!!!

The Gander mtns by me are normaly retail plus 25 percent as there standard and that was long before the election let alone anything else.
