May 1 update:

I just talked with the vet. He said Duffer's blood test shows elevated white blood count and lymphocytes - both could indicate cancer or an infection.
We will continue the meds and monitor him over the weekend.

On a positive note, the swelling in his neck has noticeably gone down after just 2 days so we are hopeful.
After a bit more time on the antibiotics we'll discuss when will be best to perform a biopsy to know for sure.

Until then, we wait.

That sounds pretty optimistic for infection vs. cancer, if you're seeing response to the antibiotics.
