Update on Mrs. Bigride (March 23, See Post #76)

Update January 24, 2017

Over the last 6 weeks, another medical issue surfaced, and Mrs. Bigride was temporarily deactivated from the transplant list. She is having surgery tomorrow to correct a pre-cancerous condition that was just plain missed by a "specialist" who has sorely tried our patience and managed to waste about 4 months of our time.

Tomorrow's surgery is expected to go well and should allieviate much pain for Candi. After pathology reports and a follow-up, her case will be presented to the transplant board to be reactivated. We look forward to good news.

So tomorrow, we are off to the hospital for another "adventure." Mrs. Bigride has already mandated that I must wear pants.

We appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

Paul

We look forward to good news.

Paul
As do we.
Prayers from here for Candi, best wishes for you to retain a semblance of sanity.
As unfortunate as this is, hoping you'll share some musings from the waiting area.
If possible, as a favor to me, please... when you see the Doc with his little scrub hat...
ask him if it comes in a mens...

My prayers are still with you both and I don't doubt their power.
Sorry to hear of her "detour", but even the smartest of us are still human and can make mistakes.
Yours was caught but not after some suffering from Candi.
May it be the last time.
In his name his will be done.

Sorry to hear about the delay and additional surgery needed, Paul.
You two will continue to remain in our thoughts and prayers!

UPDATE 01/30/17:

This will be my last update for a long while. I originally wanted to share the joy of our transplant journey back to "normal" life..."normal" in my case being a relative term. This last setback means that in a best-case scenario, a transplant will not take place for at least 5 years after being pronounced cancer free.

After further tests and exams today, however, it looks like beating the cancer is, optimistically speaking, about a coin flip. We'll take those odds. We know Who's flipping the coin.

Today was also THE day that the transplant surgeon gave his final approval to a living donor who offered Candi a kidney. How's that for timing? Candi has kept her updated about these health issues and told her about the struggles and long delay. Her response to Candi, "I ain't going anywhere." Wow. Ain't nobody backing down.

Our hearts are full of hope and strength..and plain ol' fight...thanks to the encouragement of so many friends...friends who have become family.

I offer sincere gratitude and thanks to those who offer so much encouragement, prayers, kind thoughts, and humor to help us along. Believe me when I say that you're ALL invited to the party when we celebrate that kidney transplant.
This girl I married with the beautiful smile...she's tough as nails too.

I have seen transplant miracles, including one after cancer.

Please keep the faith.

One of my favorite quotes that I have been told in sobriety:

God hasn't carried me this far to just drop me on my *** now.

Some play the percentages, I say it is or it isn't.
It rains or it doesn't.
The team wins or loses.
The sun will rise or it won't.
We live or we die.
Seems everything is a 50/50 proposition.

Seems you and Candi have at least five years to look forward to.
Experience the ups and downs, day to day triumphs and disasters,
know most of all you two are secure in the knowledge that the love
you share is undying.
Thanks for sharing with us this chapter in your lives.
See ya round...
Brad
