Update on stolen firearms

I had a friend get a lot of guns stolen in the 1980's while he was at church; someone knew his routine. Several years later he saw his Sako varmint rifle on a Gunshow table. He played it smart and didn't say anything; just went to the promoter and the Deputy at the door with a copy of the police report that he always carried with him. Deputy went to the table, checked the rifle against the report and handed him his rifle.

I had a Pristine Officers Luger with matching numbers stolen and pawned 30 years ago. Surely it must be in some fine collection by now. Wonder if I could track it? Good luck on the rest of the collection.

Vigorous enforcement of traffic laws was shown almost 50 years ago to be about the best tactic to interdict criminals. While there are likely better ways to target specific types of offenders with intel, the typical crook is a target rich environment.

I never ran into him, but he was notorious for surviving when others with him didn't.

I did testify in another (unrelated) case where two guys kept stabbing each other in separate encounters until one of them died.

Arthur "Butchie" Doe: Boston's Most Hated Gangster | Mafia Hitters

In the West Baltimore neighborhood where I worked, we had drug dealers who'd been shot who went right back to selling drugs as soon as they could. A friend who was a nurse at the Shock-Trauma Center downtown used to refer to "frequent flyers"...patients who'd been treated there more than once for gunshot wounds.

For most of us, being shot once would be a powerful wake-up call that we need to change our lifestyle...but if you're a career criminal, you do what you do...

Stolen in the early 80's from my house, thieves took the safe from the garage, weapons never seen again:
-Winchester 1894 .32 WS from the 20's
-highly engraved Damascus side by side 12 ga from the late 1800's
-early H&R octagon long barrel .22
-Korean war officer issued M1 carbine in pristine condition
-custom built 25-06 with handmade burl stock, last rifle my step-father ever made in his gunsmith shop
-a .357 Smith in presentation box from my step-father

after that, have only bought shooters
