US Navy Hint, Better Think Twice

Iran's not suicidal - they'll hold off until after January 20th to conduct any mischief against the U.S..
In response to our drone strike, on January 8th, the Iranians hit our service members at Al-Asad airbase with 11 ballistic missiles with 1650 lb warheads. This caused traumatic brain injuries to 110 Americans. We had no military response. I don't think that will happen again this year.

The sub is there because it’s believed that Iran has sabotaged two Saudi related oil tankers in the past few weeks. I’m sure this is to send a message that we are here and ready to deal if they continue.

This sub is a land-attack beast. Each ballistic missile tube holds 7 land-attack cruise missiles, and it has a bunch of them.

That would make a cool shift knob for my Mustang.

shallow water in that strait....

JIM........
Yes, but our subs transit the strait submerged all the time. Calling attention to one, spitting distance from a belligerent's shore, is new to me.

Why would we not stay underwater and not be seen?
Yeah, that's standard procedure in hostile waters. Running surfaced off Iran, and advertising it, is mighty unusual in my memory.

These pictures were eye openers for me, I had no idea what was under the "skin" on a sub. I figured there were some missile tubes but that shot of the top with the hatches open is very impressive!

The USS Georgia is a retrofitted boomer as mentioned, it's difficult to see in the photos but it's about 50 ft longer the the Arleigh Burke-class destroyers escorting her. Escorts are 505 ft long the sub is 560.
