Used EOTech price

A friend wants to sell hs EOTech 552.D1. (He has two but wants to sell one ). Both failed him early and were sent back to factory. He is letting me try one out and it seems to work great on my M&P AR and looks absolutely new.
He is a close fiend and finds it difficult to come up with a price. He paid $529.
That particular model is apparently no longer made. I really don't have a use for the night vision feature but I do want an EOTech and would like to help him out at the same time.
I am new to ARs and accessories. My question is what is a fair price such that both of us should feel we got a decent deal?

I would say 50 - 70% of what I could buy a new one for. It looks like this one is still available new for around $500. I would probably offer $300 -$350. It might be worth a little more, being a friend and that you know it is the real deal and not a poorly made counterfeit.

$350 is very cheap but you can get a new 512 for that much minus the nv. If he accepts 350 then go for it. He could get alot more on ebay. They resale very very well.

I wouldn't pay more than $400. That is 20% off of new. Anymore than that, you might as well buy new. That is just me...if I can't save more than 25% by buying used, then I typically will go the new route.
