Usernames?

my first name is dick

on the CB I used to be called The Blue Dick, as I drove a blue car. BUT then I changed to a red car...and the name became The Red Dick...but then a gal on the CB tried to make a date with me while my wife was in the car. After her hurricane passed, she told me to get a new name
Now that's funny!

Even though everyone........... saw it coming!!!!!!

:D

My original online username was my Air Force nickname; Criminal. That was given to me by a supervisor because I 'knew' things, and how to get things, although it was complete irony as I always stayed legal. I had that on two forums, the second being a hiker forum. At the time I joined the forum there were several threads about cars getting broken in to at trailheads, and it seemed like a few forum members thought I was the crook and had come to mock them. It took a while but they soon realized that wasn't the case, nevertheless I decided not to use that as a username in other forums. As an aside, there was one particularly daft female on that forum who actually discounted my opinion on something merely because of that username. I suppose I had chosen JohnnySmart or IntellectualAuthority my opinion on a subject would have more merit.

So instead I enrolled in future forums as Mainsail. MAINSAIL is the hailing call on the USAF Global HF radio system. It is used when you're trying to reach any station vs a particular station. It would sound like:

"Mainsail Mainsail, Reach 40681 on triple-one-seven-six upper….."

"Reach 40681 this is Bayonne Global, I have you weak but readable, stand by…."

"Bayonne this is Shandwick we have 40681 loud and clear –break- Reach 40618 go ahead with your traffic."

"Shandwick, Reach 40681 requesting a phone patch with Hilda East."

EDIT to add some history:
The freq 11.176MHz is no longer used, it was replaced with 11.175MHz.
Bayonne (NJ) global station is gone.
Hilda East is the Tanker Airlift Control Center (TACC) East Cell.

Mine comes from one of my favorite NY Islanders, #21 Kyle Okposo. Unfortunately, he is now a Buffalo Sabre. My other fav, Frans Nielsen, is a now a Red Wing. I should stop picking favorites.

Mine is the story of my life in one compound word.

I also had a T-shirt made with the letters "ISLAGIATT". Stands for "It seemed like a good idea at the time".

What a long, strange trip it's been...
Robert Frost, the road less traveled is a better way to look at this.

Is that the shirt you get after the hospital visit from the "Hey, watch this!" shirt? :)

Yes, it's been done before, but as has been said there are always new members, and why not learn a little more about them, and them about us. Heck, I sometimes think of myself as a new member since I've only been here 5 years! Compared to some I'm still the FNG.

Bald Eagle was already taken, and 13 is my lucky number so... there you go. I'm BaldEagle1313 in almost every single user group or forum to which I belong. For the same reason.

Back in 2000 I bought my first cruiser style motorcycle a Kawasaki VN 800B Vulcan, one of my friends wife started calling me Vulcan Bob and it sorta stuck even after I had a couple of Harleys. Star Trek has nothing to do with it! This was the first of very few forums I belong to and contemplating a user name I thought what the heck this would do.

Mine's pretty obvious-just first initial and shortened last name. Several years ago I worked as a prison guard. The inmates couldn't pronounce the "Sch" in my name and shortened it to "Shack" (think Shaquil Oneal). It eventually morphed into Scheck. It stuck.

After reading Jinglebob's wonderful post here, I thought it'd be fun to talk about where we came up with our usernames.
This may have been on another, previous thread, but rather than bringing back a zombie, I figured I'd start a new one.

It is but, long story short. My name is the name of a character that John Wayne played in the movie that made him an A-list star. He was a minor-outlaw in: Stagecoach. I also on purpose put in: the ringo kid--knowing full well it aint grammatically correct. Besides-its shorter than these from Winchester 73: Dutch Henry Brown (Stephen McNally) and Waco Johnny Dean (Dan Duryea)

I was a "dancer" to make it through college, and this was my stage name. To this day, I still hate pants.

Now the truth...it was a nickname from high school that referred to my corpulent tendencies combined with the first four letters of my last name. I was also called "hoss" but that sounds too bonanza-ish. Just stuck with "bigride."

Just pretend this is witty.
