USPS just cost me $6

Last Saturday (12 Dec), I sent a "Priority Mail" 3-day delivery envelope to my oldest son. It is now one week later, the tracking info has not been updated since 13 Dec, no envelope delivered, and had to open a formal complaint.

Ironically, Amazon does not have those issues and they ship/track millions of packages too.

Update 21 Dec 2015: Friday night I received a phone call from the USPS in Hawaii telling me the envelope was located and was en-route to Hawaii. Today's tracking update on the USPS web site shows the letter arrived in Guam and was processed. Guam is a long way from Hawaii. BTW, I discovered Priority Mail is NOT guaranteed 1-3 day delivery. However, Priority "Express" Mail, at triple the cost, is guaranteed for 1-2 day delivery. IMO, paying for Priority Mail is a waste of money. My Amazon order, made 2 days after mailing the "Priority Mail" envelope, going to the same address made it in three days. Go figure.

Yep, the registration tag is a little peel and stick thing you put on your plate every year.

I wondered the same thing. Let's say my tags got dropped in the wrong mailbox and that person is strapped for cash or just plain bent. As you say, at first glance it's a valid tag.

In S. Carolina, the little peel and stick sticker has the license tag # on it... including the month and year of expiration...Makes it a bit difficult to bull**** the officer into thinking that the sticker is yours????
JIM...................

That sucks but we do live in an imperfect world and mistakes happen. So chalk it up to a human error, being we are not perfect and go on.

Same here, but I doubt he is going to read that from 25 yards following you on the freeway.;)

Replacement tags are costing me $6 for something that isn't my fault.:mad::mad::mad:

That's happened to me, actually last year.4 trailers, a boat, and 2 cars... This year I just stopped by the tax office and picked mine up. No big deal , but I could see where it might be a problem in more populated areas. Gave me a chance to wish a few folks I dont see in person often a merry Christmas. It's all good.

...I'll stick with the gun section, where I only have to reand,"Did I pay too much? kind of nonsense.
Sooner or later, someone is going to be posting about a broken shoe lace or bird dirt hitting their car in this forum.

Now that you mentioned it, a bird pooped on my truck yesterday. I had just washed it, too. Life isn't fair....

Yes, I should think myself lucky that they did not request my presence at the DMV. My thought on that is that my employer doesn't give me enough vacation to visit a DMV in Vegas.

Yeah, $6 vs visiting the DMV is a good trade, but as somebody else said, it's the principle. I don't react well to other people's screw ups being made my emergency or costing me any money.

I remember when 6 dollars was real money. It was more than enough for a tank of gas. Or 120 First Class stamps. Or 24 hamburgers at Dairy Queen. Or 20 loaves of bread. Or 10 boxes of .22lr. Or 8 trips to the movies. Or 5 haircuts. Or 100 Cokes.

But, not any more.

Have you ever been in the US military?

The USPS has a first class operation, comparatively speaking.

The Navy cut me orders to N. Africa and never gave me any travel voucher. I went home on leave waiting for the travel voucher and none came. Called them up and they said find your own. So I did. Should have just stayed home for the next 2 years.

Are you sure DMV mailed? Are you sure USPS didn't put it in your box and someone else didn't take it?

Amazon said my packages would be here Dec 16, they last left Billings Sat, the 19th. Tis the season.
