USPS mistake?

Not sure that 98% number is accurate. If it is we should be thankful for the Post Office, they hired people who might otherwise be employed as...
Airline Pilots landing at right airport 98% of time...
Ambulance Drivers arriving correct house...
Air Traffic Controllers contacting correct aircraft...
Airport Security catching terrorists...
Anesthesiologists...
Bomb Squad officers...
Chemists...
Clerks typing correct addresses on search warrants...
Dentists...
Doctors...
Electricians (Linemen)...
Firemen...
Lifeguards...
Parachute packers...
Steel (high Iron) workers...
Surgeons...
Truck Drivers...

well you get the idea...

In the space of a month this year I had two packages that either were failed to be delivered on time, or AT ALL. In both cases, the carrier LIED about the circumstances. In the first instance, the excuse was not only a lie, it was PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE. In that example, the USPS failed to respond to my repeated inquiries. Fortunately, having been down that road, Amazon IMMEDIATELY refunded my money.

Whenever possible I try to avoid having things shipped to me USPS.

Don't you get it? Its a Federal agency and they have YOUR name. You have been Blacklisted and been singled out. You are now in all data bases!

Best change your name and address and enter into Witness Protection.

Yesterday I stopped in front of the local post office to drop a letter into the mailbox. I saw that the letter did not slide down the shoot and so I reached in to give the letter a push. It didn't go down because the box was jammed full of mail and over-flowinging into the shoot. I could have grabbed a fist full of other people's outgoing mail if I wanted to. I didn't want to spend the time going inside to tell them it was over-flowing and figured I could just call them from my car. Drove away and using google on my smartphone the only number I could get was an 800 number for the post office that had no option whatsoever to talk to a human. No local number was available. I think the days of the post office are numbered.

The lady delivering your mail to you was under NO OBLIGATION to do so, never mind in a timely fashion. Why she brought it to the door instead of sticking it in the mailbox??? I've had some incorrectly delivered mail that was WAY OFF. If nearby I generally put it in the correct mailbox, or write on the envelope DELIVERED INCORRECTLY & put it back in the mailbox with the flag up. File it under stuff happens & be glad she didn't just throw it out.

I understand she was under no obligation to bring it to the door, but where I live we have cluster mail boxes, so sticking it in my mailbox was not an option for her.

I had breakfast with a friend this morning. He told me that he received a big, fat envelope from the IRS. At first he figured it might be related to the recent death of his wife.

Then he looked at the address. It wasn't addressed to him, it wasn't addressed to his wife. It was addressed to a person two towns over from where he lives. The name isn't close to his, the street name and number are not even close. His ZIP Code is XXX23, the ZIP Code in the town where it was supposed to go is XXX59.

He has no idea why it ended up in his mail box.

...the carrier LIED about the circumstances.
Yes, they will lie to you.

I ordered some lead shot. It fits very nicely in one of those flat rate boxes; all 50lbs of it. Well, apparently my carrier didn't like carrying it. I got a note, the first one mind you, in my mailbox saying this was the third and final time they were notifying me that they couldn't deliver my mail. Now, this was a mail box in one of those private mail box places. Similar to a P.O. Box, but works like a regular business address. When I confronted the post master about the fist note being the "third" note, she just tried to brush it off. When I asked why they wouldn't deliver my mail, she said we weren't home to receive it. Uh, the place is open from 7AM to 7PM every day. There was no way they couldn't deliver it.

The truth is they just didn't want to lift it.

STICKING IT.

She could have placed it in an outgoing mail box, no? IMO she was trying to do you a favor. Possible she was a criminal mastermind running a scam though. :D

There are hundreds of similar examples on Amazon's forums, some with video.

This isn't isolated. It's common, and usually not involving heavy items.

OH YEAH!

STOP ordering the lead shot. Get the 3,000 count 45 cal cast boolits instead. :D My delivery persons change frequently. Some real good, some real bad. 1 Particularly lazy so & so sees the vehicles BOTH with handicapped plates yet still refuses to get off his seat to bring anything to the door. The other drivers have no problem with it. Instead, make the handicapped people stand in line at the PO to pick up a freaking letter. I'd like to tip the good ones, & give the lazy one a big bag of "dirt".
