Reading another thread "Mercury Astronaughts" brought me to posting this one.

I still use a lot of postage stamps daily and thought some of the members would like to see what is offered at the USPS site.
These are Forever stamps and the only ones I purchase.

Have to admit they produce some nice stuff.:D

I was in the USPS the other day mailing a package and noticed they have a reproduction "Upside down Jenny" stamp.

If you're not familiar with it, in 1918 the Post Office issued a stamp for the new air mail service with a Curtis JN-4 on it. There was a plate of 100 stamps issued with the Jenny inverted. A block of four originals sold in 2005 for 2.7 million dollars.

It appeared in a movie comedy, the son had to spend so much money in a specified time, then he would receive the inheritance.

He placed that stamp "Original" on a letter and mailed it to his father.:D

It was common to put a stamp on the wall of a girl's doll house as "artwork". There have been a number of Doll Houses torn down for the art work. Ivan

The NASA ones interest me. The others, I'll avoid, if I can.

I bought some Medal of Honor forever stamps the other day. They have two designs-the Navy/Marine Corps/Coast Guard medal and the Army medal. No Air Force MOH.

Thanks. I'll ask about those. I'll probably have to explain what the MOH is.

Did I tell you guys about the postal clerk who told me that I couldn't send a couple of paperback novels to Austria, "Because they don't have no post offices in Australia."

I think she'd seen, "Crocodile Dundee", and that comprised her knowledge of Australia. I had to explain where AUSTRIA is, next to Germany. She finally sort of got it when I explained that Austria is where Arnold Schwarzenegger is from.

If you ship anything to Vienna or Salzberg and it winds up in Sydney or Melbourne, you may have met this clerk. :D

I swear, this is a true story. It's right up there with the grocery clerk who sent the sacker to see which mysterious vegetable I was buying. They're called radishes.

I received a couple of sheets of the Shepard/Messenger stamps for Christmas.

I've been getting complete sheets like these of various space/science/science fiction issues each year for awhile now. :)
