Looking to see how many of one or the other you normally carry when shooting USPSA.

I've thought full load in gun + 6 speedloaders in 2 pouches for a total round count of 42. But then I was thinking I might want one or two more in case I fumble a reload or have trouble on say a Texas star.

When I shoot USPSA or ICORE matches, I always have at least 10 speed loaders or 40 moon clips available, more moons so you don't have to demoon and reload them. I carry them in 2 triple Safariland carriers in the front and 2 single carriers at other locations on the belt for the "load and make ready" or fumbles.

I carry 8 Comp III speedloaders on my belt (1 Safariland triple carrier and 5 single carrier made of spring steel) and 1 HKS in each of my back pocket. I load my 686 with one of the HKS at the load and make ready command.

I keep the Safariland Loading block full of ammo for quicker reloads of the empty speedloaders.

Hope this helps,
Glen

8 moons on the belt in Blade Tech holders and one in the hand for LAMR.

I carry 9 typically, 10 or 11 on a really long stage (56 is the longest I've shot).

That breaks down to 6 in an austin moonclip server feeding to my strong side, 2 on a single post North Mountain close to my weak side and 1 in the gun. For the long stages I cram a 7th in the moonclip server since I broke the tail on the follower and another hanging on a belt loop if needed.

Table starts with gun and ammo there are the worst....

I carry 6 in a clip server, 2 on a single post and usually start with one starter clip stacked somewhere or loaded in the gun at the start.

For USPSA , sx on the belt and one in the gun is the minimum at a club match. I carry eight moon-clips on the belt using a North Mountain holder and one in the gun. I have never run out and I have shot a few major matches.

The most I can recall using lately is 7 at an USPSA Match. One at MR (Load is not longer part of the command) and 6 reloads during the stage. The only stage I can think of where I used more was a multi-string shoot-reload-shoot Standards kind of stage and you rarely see one that long.

All that said, I walk up to the line with 10 moonclips (8 on a North Mountain and 2 on a single post). If its a long or complex stage, I might carry an 11th and use it at the MR so I have maximum flexibility during the stage.

My ICORE Classic rig carries 8 speedloaders and its gets me through with no issues.

Most of the time 6 is plenty, (6 loaders and a loaded revolver) but I have ran out.

I went to Comp III for my M-64, bought six, but I stuffed some regular speed loaders in my hip pocket just in case.

Some clubs (including mine) allow other competitiors to follow you loading speed loaders as you drop them, that helps, then you'd only need six.
