Hello,

I've had this for a few years, and to be honest, it's too nice of a gun for me and I'd love to sell it to a collector and maybe put that towards a single six, and a lever gun or something else to have fun with. Sorry, some of the pictured had the SN scrubbed. Message me for it if needed to give me an answer.

I have an extra set of ironwood grips, so that these didn't get marred, but it has been shot three times by me (less than 100 shots total), and has been stored in a safe.

Let me know if you have any thoughts or feedback. I know she's a rare one.

I think from your photos that yours has been refinished at some point. The sideplate looks a little off and the screw slots look a little washed. In the first picture the cylinder also seems to have a slight purple cast indicative of a hot blue.

I have its twin in very nice original condition with numbered stocks. I had my eye on something else a two years ago and set it out for sale at the Tulsa show. I put $1000 on it and brought it home after turning down a highest offer of $900.

Were I in your shoes I’d just shoot it and enjoy it.

Is there a service department date stamp under the left grip? I too wonder about a refinish as I don't think I've seen a transitional HD with a bright blue finish as this one seems to have. If it is a refinish it looks too nice to me to be anything but a factory job. As to value, I bought the transitional HD, all numbers matching from 1946 SN S 67385, shown below, here on the Forum a few years ago for $800.

Here's mine, 1949 transitional 5" originally sold at the Army Exchange. I paid up to get it because of the original excellent condition. The auction had a reserve and I kept bidding at the last minute to reach it. All original and matching including the grips. Nobody would bid above $900 and I finally got it at $1100, box not included. As you can see, they came with a satin finish.

Your gun is quite attractive. It would be nice to know who did the refinish to establish a value. It looks like a very nice job for sure.IMG_7902.jpg
