value for a 4516-2

I think a nice 4516 with some wear on it would sell for about $450. I am guessing that a new one would go for $550 - $600. You can go on GunBroker and do some searching to get an idea.
I don't know if you are buying or selling but if the gun is for shooting and carrying rather than collecting than the ones with some wear on them are usually a better deal IMO.

Back in 2005 I picked up a like new in the box 4516-2 with all of the original paperwork and 4 magazines for $425. My guess would be $500-600 for a NIB, maybe more.
I am like dot_mdb, if you are going to shoot it go with a used one for less money. The trigger gets smoother with use and you can always get the gun bead blasted if there is holster wear and it will look like new!

I picked up a NIB 4516-2 here in Southern California for $475 in late 2007. It was the last time I saw a NIB for sale near that price. Out here now my guess would be around $600 to $650, if you could find one NIB. JMHO

I bought a 4516-2 about a year ago on GB for $475 using the Buy it Now option. Although it was listed as slightly used, it looked like it was never fired. Came with original box, extra mag & paperwork.
I also picked up a mint, pre-rail 4513 in Gander Mt. the other day for $450 plus tax. Came with original box, manual & extra mag & grip extender floor plates.
I just happened to stop in to check out their used gun selection & saw it immediately. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, but I took a good look at it & bought it. It was a no brainer, being a mint Tactical with no rail. I personally don't care for the rail & won't buy a pistol that has it.
This is another one that was obviously fired very little & likely never carried.
I didn't realize till I did a search here that the 6 shot pre-rail Tactical 4513 was only made a year or 2.
That made it even sweeter & I couldn't be happier with my new carry piece.
Gotta love the 3rd Generation Smiths!
