Going to rebrand this post because I have gotten a little more information about it. This gun is police issued, Cobb County Sheriff Department and it does have the Magna-Trigger. The condition is a solid 95% with of course holster ware because of daily use.

In my opinion the gun itself is maybe worth $500, the police issue does add value but I feel the Magna-Trigger detracts from its overall value.

Opinions please.

Thats truly strange. I bought one of the stainless PPK Walthers that Smith and Wesson built. I went to put a different set of stocks on it and found in that in their infinite wisdom someone had decided to cut the back portion of the grip frame out. They are heavy little buggers those PPK's but taking the back of the grip frame out to save a few bucks was beyond comprehension. Not only that but the sharp edges of the frame and slide left me bleeding after disassembly, poor job of finishing in my opinion.

Did it come with a ring to wear on your ring finger? Can you pull the trigger with out problems?

I think its a Magna-Trigger. Back in the 1970s cops will have their revolvers altered so a bad guy gets a hold of their revolver it can not shoot. I have not seen one in 40+ years.
Gun Safety Add-ons, Smart Guns, Magna-Trigger

Looking closer I noticed that revolver came from a Sheriffs Department. I am about 90% sure its a Magna-Trigger.

Never heard of that before.

Had to do a search and found a video explaining how it works :

Had heard of that about 30+ years ago, but never saw one.

Is is stamped Cobb County Sheriff's Dept.? If so I have seen one of these with the Magna-Trigger.

The magnet in the ring pulls the metal piece of the front grip strap forward, allowing the mainspring to move fully and the gun to cycle.

Kinman,
Regarding your PPK, all PPK's (pre-war and post-war) are without a backstrap on their frames. The plastic grips meet at the rear so no back strap. PP's and PPK/S's are on a different frame and all of them do have a solid metal backstrap uncovered by the grips. Hope that this clears things up.
Best Regards,

I would think if you removed that little gizmo that rotates when the ring is present the trigger and hammer would operate normally. There has to be a pin or something similar that holds those parts into the frontstrap, remove them and the problem should be solved.
