Value if a Model 53 6 inch barrel

Anyone have any idea what a model 53 barrel would go for, 6 1/2 inch. A friend of mine has one that is shot out, and would like to replace it.

I have never seen a M53 barrel by itself. Cylinders....yes. If I were you I would look for a 22 mag barrel which is .224 instead of .222. Then you could use .224 bullets which just fit the cylinder snuggly.

The correct barrel for these is the same as the Model 17s or 18s. The Model 48 barrels have a larger diameter and will not work properly.

You need to go back and read my post. The cylinders are .224 and the .222 bullets are too small. Try dropping a .224 bullet through the cylinder. Fits good and snug for good accuracy.

As far as M17 or M18 barrels, according to one of the S&W posters, the M53 barrel is different.

Just an FYI I found a new never installed 22 Magnum (Jet) 6" barrel at the San Jose gun show last winter and bought it for $135.00. I do have 2 Jets and will keep it in case I need to rebarrel one of mine.
