I've got a very nice 15-2 2" blue I value at $450. How would this gun stack in a trade for a blue 19 6" in similar shape? I've got the box for mine, but boxes mean nothing to me so I don't care about anything but the 19.

:) For the most part you are getting a good deal.
What dash is the 19? In my opinion you should
always care about a S&W box. They make your
gun worth more money. The box is also worth
money. I just bought a box from a forum member.
Any box you don't want I will take.:D:DDon

Sorry...This is theoretical, as I'm considering "rolling over" (selling or trading) most of my meager collection of Smiths. My 2nd handgun purchase 40 years ago was a 19 which I had factory re barreled (sp?) from 4 to 6". My opinion (we all know what opinions are worth) is a collectible gun means box and stuff, at 62 I want what amounts to a good lookin shooter.

If Both are P&R I would consider it just about a fair trade.

$450 seems to be just about the going and asking price for 2" Model 15s. While some Model 19s go for less those tend to be worn and bit loose.

Nice P&R Model 19s in 4" and 6" seem to end up at or near $450 with the 2" guns going for more.

This is talking blued gun versus blued gun.

I would rather have the 15 2", they just are not all that common(not rare)

trade wise its prolly a wash......if you want a 6" 19(which there are lots of)

Even though they are both K-Frames, they are two such different guns. One .38 Spl (only) with a short barrel, the other with the versatility of .38 Spl /.357 Mag and the longer barrel.

I would rather have the M19, but I think with all the folks looking for conceal-carry armament, the M15 has the edge in value.

You can sometimes squeeze a bit more out of a nice 15 snub, particularly if you have the original stocks. 6" Model 19s (or 66s, if you just want a shooter and don't actually care whether the gun is blue or stainless), seem to be commanding the lowest prices of any of the variants. Probably because they somewhat lose out to the 6" 686s for much of what people use 6" guns in that size for - general shooting, hunting, plinking.

I have several of the model 15 snubbies in both blue and nickel and while they are very nice guns, any of them would go before either of my 6" 19-2's. Can you say "classic"?
