I just picked up a 29-2 .44 mag 4in barrel blued in excellent condition. No original box or paper but it has the factory trigger and hammer, pinned and recessed. Any idea on the value? I can't find any that are exactly like it anywhere online  any comments or history on it would be appreciated.

From your description you have a normal 4 inch model 29. Value if in 95% or better is around 1100 give or take. Price will vary some by region. In Mo. it's probably an 800 dollar gun if you really want to sell it and not sit on it a long time.

I just bought one in shooter grade ie. muzzle bluing wear and rubber grips for $500. I consider that a really good deal but I've seen them in this area for $650 t0 $750. I feel the $1100 figure given previously is really high!

I own one just like your's, bought it a few years ago and paid $750 for it back then. I'm my area it's worth $900-$1000. The 4" barrel seems to be the most popular IMHO.

Yea, right now the short barrels are popular, can't imagine why but they are. A 4 inch or shorter 44mag aint on my wish list, I have a 6 and a 8 3/8s and with full house loads they're a handfull. Somebody will have to have that 4 though.

Bought a 4" nickle with original target grips with tools in the wooden display box all in excellent condition for $620. But that was 6 months ago.

The 4 inch is 29-2 is a very popular revolver and it only competes with the 6.5 inch Dirty Harry model for to honors in pricing on the 29-2. In my area a 4 inch in excellent condition with nothing else is an $800 revolver and as the percentage of finish wear goes up the price goes down.

About four years ago I paid 1000. for my 29-2 4 inch ,with presentaion case tool kit and paper work.

The father of the .44mag preferred the 4 inch to all other barrel lengths. It is very interesting to read about his exploits. In case someone has been off planet the man of course is Elmer Keith. Owned one for many years and still regret the day I sold it. Bought it at the height of the Dirty Harry craze and had to settle for the 4 inch for the outrageous price of $300.00, the 6.5 inch were a LOT MORE. Never went out of time or failed to fire, even after 32+ grain loads of Winchester 296. I am looking for another early 29 though I still want my Dirty Harry gun.
Here in SOCAL they are all over the place in terms of price and rarely seen.
